About the Author
From the Back Cover
The days may indeed be darkening, but the church’s problems are far from new. They have been with us since the beginning and they are as dangerous today as they were then.
In Christ’s Call to Reform the Church, Pastor John MacArthur examines the letters to the seven churches in Revelation and helps us better understand Jesus’ words to:
- The Loveless Church
- The Persecuted Church
- The Compromising Church
- The Corrupt Church
- The Dead Church
- The Faithful Church
- The Lukewarm Church
It’s not popular in our tolerant times to speak of warnings or punishments, but Christ’s messages to 6 out of the 7 was simple:
“Repent or face the consequences.”
And that’s the message many of us need to hear today.
It’s time to ask yourself:
What would Jesus say to your church?
Would you like to tell us about a lower price?

Furthermore, it is extremely, accurately, historically grounded. In my counseling and pastoral ministry, I have studied the history of the church’s presented in Revelation 2 and 3 at great length. Dr. MacArthur is incredibly well researched, providing essential historical context to bring needed life to an already filled text!
Overall: you have a 100% recommendation from me as a pastor to read this book.
That said, the one area of disagreement that Dr. MacArthur and I have is on the place of the rapture in eschatology. I do not hold to a pre-tribulational rapture eschatological system (I believe the historical pre-millennialist view - post-tribulations/premillennialism) to be more biblio-historically accurate. This is *not* a hill to die on, & he spends little time addressing this, only in one section in the second to last chapter (I believe). But he does forward his view on the subject in an appropriate fashion. But for those, like I, who hold a different perspective - just be aware that it’s present.
Again - a strong & fascinating read. One I will absolutely return to again in the near future.
