Manufactured to +/- 1 cent, with 1 cent markings. The bright orange could not be more visible, and when it goes bright green you know it. I can easily tune even without my glasses. I like the vertical shape, can be mounted above or below the headpiece.

I almost bought a Snark, but was put off by the many reports of breakage of the long and apparently flimsy support arm, making the Snark round screen sticking up like a badminton racket. In comparison this Chromacast has a short, seeming stronger base, and displays all the info in a nice, narrower but more visible vertical fashion. It was certainly worth a chance at just $6.98. I also like the fact that it has auto turn off if you forget, that can also be turned on/off manually to save the battery.

Bottom line: I received and tested it, love it. A good deal made even better by its competence, and inexpensive enough that I can afford to buy another for my other uke.

I was trying to replace a lost Intellituner and this is one of the few LCD tuners out there.

PROS: You can sorta see it in bright sunlight, which was my main concern...outdoor gigs. Not well, but enough to be useable.

Works on my mandolin...seems to be very precise and found the tone even when the string is struck lightly.

The price. Seven bucks and change? Awesome!

The display turns green when it is in tune, which is nice.

It also has different settings for guitar, chromatic, bass, violin, and ukelele. It shows you the string number. If you hit the low G on a mandolin, it says "1" . If you turn it to the Guitar setting, plucking the same string it will say "3". If you are tuning a mando, it will only tune to G D A and E. For a guitar, only E A D G B E. It has a Chromatic setting if you want to see every note. I assume you would have to use this mode to do any alternate tunings. However, the way you switch between the different modes is part of a larger problem mentioned later.

CONS: You have to mount it so that the unit is in front of your headstock if you want to look at the display right side up. It flips up, and can then be turned to the left or right, but cannot be rotated. So if you want to keep it clipped to your headstock all night and don't want to hide that Gibson logo you paid so much for by keeping the main unit behind the headstock, you have to read it upside down.

It only has one button, and its on the wrong side...awkward to reach over with my left hand to turn it off and on. And that's a little awkward, too, since you need to use a long press to turn it off or on, and short presses to switch between Guitar, Violin, Ukelele etc modes.

The tuner as a tuner worked great for the two weeks that it worked...It is now sitting on my amp stuck on green and won't shut off...Spend more money on a decent tuner

I'm setting out to learn the guitar for the first time after going on and off about it for years. I bought this as a simple clip on tuner. Now this took some getting used to--- I've used tuners in the past for other stringed instruments I play like the violin or double bass. The tuner accommodates many different instruments, but to tune a guitar, you'll need to click the only button this tuner several times until you get "G". I was baffled at first, thinking that G referred to the G string. Anyways, I did run into some trouble with using this thing because it does not identify what string you are playing on--- just the pitch. So if my B string was out of tune and sounded like a C it would identify C based on how off it is from the closest pitch. I had to use a piano to figure out what octave the strings were on before I could use this to make small precise changes to my tuning.

So as far as this tuner goes, I would recommend it for tweaking but if you are beginning on a stringed instrument and don't know your way around the keys, don't use this. Use a piano or watch a video on Youtube and tune it by ear first, THEN use this tool to make everything pitch-perfect.

When first turning it on the screen is green first then turns orange like you see in the picture. Mine has a problem where it stays green and sometimes i would have to pull the battery and put it back. That sometimes fixed it but the problem always comes back. I got really frustrated but hey this thing is cheap... DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS. Spend a little more and buy a better one.

Purchased for $6.50 so I had mixed expectations.
2 of the 4 are working OK, only minor problems. The other 2 have a stroke several times a day. Here is the problem: All the turner lights come on at once, the button freezes and it will not reset the tuner or turn it off. To fix this problem temporarily the battery needs to be removed for a few seconds and then replaced. This action usually resets the brain and it works fine for a while till the next time it freezes. Sometimes I need to repeat this process more than once to fix the issue.Annoying! Contacted the seller but I was of the warranty period. ( I guess it was only 30 days, not sure now) For the price I really can't complain. But had I known the reliability was < 50% I would have looked elsewhere and saved the aggravation. I see the current price of this tuner is almost double what I paid, but I also see better options now that offer lifetime warranties. I think I'll ditch the 2 that work from stroke to stroke and purchase 2 new similar tuners that offer a lifetime warranty.
