Now I know which instrument produces the kind of Xmas sound.
I will buy a second one and convert it to diatonic where most of the notes are doubled (no sharp or flat), it will sound louder.
The construction is 99% solid, very high quality, except the chord bars cover in plastic and the cover on the right side (of the photo) also in plastic, easy to break if not careful.
Some of the ads say this instrument is 36" x 12" but this is a typo error, it's only 24" x 12" which is standard. 36" is way too long to hold.
After 3 months, I found the reason why it sounds thin (note: I bought this used from eBay)
1) the 12 treble strings sound very loud and warm (good)
2) the lower strings are old (somewhat rusted) and not proper size, they feel quite flimsy (not enough tension) when tuned to pitch)
3) tuning these string one note higher to get good tension, and they sound much louder
My fix: buy a new set of strings.
