I think this kit is one of the coolest things ever! I wouldn't take the stands cross country running, but in my house they'll last for years. The lights are really nice (imo) and setup was a breeze. The screen itself works so good, no problems seeing it in OBS Studio.
If you're a pro, go spend a pros money and get the right stuff. But if you're at home, doing a twitch stream or just wanting to open up some creative possibilities, you gotta check this out!
Here's some things to know.
. The screen is much longer than it is wide. This is so you could stand on the screen and fully green screen the ground and the background. Not useful to me but good to know why it's so long. I just pinned it up out of the way.
. The screen can fit two people pretty well but more than that and your going to be a little cramped. The kit includes enough railing to expand an additional screen later if you want.
. You can extend the rails very high. About 8-10 feet (whatever my ceiling is... I think 10) but that's not even fully extended. I'm 5'4. Short. If one of you tall folks need a green screen this will do the trick.
. The green screen itself is single layer cloth. In a dark room the screen alone works great but it a well lit room especially with windows the sheer cloth lets light through that interferes with effects. I fixed this with a light blocking curtain so no big deal but it's good to be aware.
. Finally, the green screen is just cloth. So if it's ruined, dirty, ripped, etc. it would be pretty easy to make a new one with fabric from the store. The stand is where it's at.
. With the legs of the stands fully extended (they are tripods) each stand take up about a 3' x 3' area.
. The lights are bright and very white. No yellow and perfect for streaming.
Hope that helps anyone trying to make a decision.
The problem is the connectors that the poles, lights, umbrellas, attach with are goofy at best and unless something is just missing from my package and it would be impossible to tell because the instruction are more than vague there are literally 4 pictures from far away where you cant actually see how anything is supposed to attach. In the attached picture you can see a stand with a metal peg sticking up and a bar with nothing but an odd shaped hole... the metal stud does not fit through the hole and the threaded end is not long enough to be of any help.
I have spent way to much effort trying to find a way outside of just duck taping them together to attach the green screen suspension poles so i can start using it.
I think with no extra cost to the manufacturer these issues could be easily solved with no extra struggling to the customer. If I ever get this together I am skeptical how effective the green screen will be as other reviewers have mentioned it is like a mesh material and could create background snow.
- The green screen itself is large
- The lights are bright and work well for its purpose
- It's easy to set up and take down
- Comes with its own carrying case.
- The stands are kind of flimsy and don't have much weight to them, so they're kind of easy to knock over.
- The instructions are absolutely atrocious. They give 5 steps, where if you don't understand their wording, you might be a bit lost.
The frame for the green screen is as big as others though you can reduce the size for this screen.
It does make it nice because you can upgrade the size of your screen to 10 by X and not worry about replacing the frame.
For anyone who is looking for an easy to manage green screen that is quick to set up and space saving this is very good.
Keep in mine this set up is only 6 feet across so it is difficult for multiple people to be on it at the same time.
For beginners and people who just need a screen but don't have the biggest work area this is a good solution for your problem.
I've never had a green screen before, so I have no comparisons. It works fine. I have created several videos with a person up front and a background video behind. The only problem I've had was to get the green screen to be completely transparent in my software. That's likely because of small wrinkles or dark spots on the screen. I wish the green screen would be a bit heavier, less likely to wrinkle, and maybe a couple of feet wider.
But I'm nitpicking here. The screen does work. I've created videos to prove that.
