Crucial lessons every Chronic Babe must learn

When I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I scoured the internet for information and hope. That's when I first discovered ChronicBabe. I was 35. Jenni's ChronicBabe site was the first place I found that felt relevant to me as a some-what-young adult. I'm so excited to now have the first ChronicBabe book in my hands. Jenni's blend of humor, information, compassion, and spunk is exactly what so many of us need. Your life isn't over when you're diagnosed with a chronic illness. You can still be a babe. You can still have fun. You can still be feisty.

The lessons Jenni packs into this book are the crucial ones every Chronic Babe must learn: how to communicate, how to adapt your career, acceptance, changing your thinking and your habits, building a team, and so on. These are all things I write about in Take Back Your Life: Find Hope And Freedom From Fibromyalgia Symptoms And Pain and The Fibromyalgia Coach: Feel Better, Change Lives, and Find Your Best Job Ever. It's what I coach my clients on and teach my students. I'm thrilled Jenni is writing about them too, since we can never hear this too much. Different perspectives help us all learn better. I love Jenni's style; she speaks to me! I also love that Jenni has included so much of the caregiver's perspective in her book, since we never live our illnesses in a vacuum.

I absolutely recommend this book to both the newly diagnosed and the veteran, the young babes and the more mature ones, the patient and those who love them. There are gems of wisdom in this book that will benefit us all.

I’ve been a fan of Chronic Babe for a few years and figured I already knew what I needed to know....WRONG. I learned SO much more, and have some great suggestions for how I can deal with life being a “sick chick.” Fun to real and still real. Jenni nails it with her writing style and real experience. I’m sending this book as gifts to friends who have chronic illness. Wonderful.

This book is fantastic! It is definitely worth your time to read! Jenni has first-hand experience in dealing with crafting an incredible life beyond illness and she is able to share that knowledge in a fun and emotionally inspiring way. Everyone knows it is no fun to be chronically ill, but Jenni helps makes life more livable and enjoyable with even the most challenging illnesses. We can do it and this book is a great inspiration! She deals with all kinds of fun issues.

A friendly guide to a meaningful life with chronic illness or pain

The tone of this book is so casual and friendly that it reads as though the author dashed it off in her spare time. But not so. You can see the depth of experience, thought and knowledge that went into it.

When you have chronic illness and pain, there are times when you're not the sharpest knife in the drawer. So the writing style, so clear and stripped of excess verbiage, means you don't have to struggle to comprehend and remember it even on a bad day. The advice just slips easily into your brain and stays there.

Chronic Babe 101 is a guide for living well with chronic illness and pain, so it covers a lot more than how to adapt to physical limitations. I could hand this book to a friend who doesn't have chronic physical problems and they would find it almost as useful as I do. Sections on changing bad habits, coping with adversity, minimizing mental suffering, family and romantic relationships, building a support network and tips for successful negotiations are useful for everyone.

Every reviewer here has had nothing but good to say about this book. They are right.

The Pain Princess

A Must Read for Anyone Suffering with Chronic Pain

I found the Chronic Babe blog earlier this year and just love it. I was super healthy until recently and now struggle to manage pain related to a chronic illness. Jenni's blog and book are wonderful! I was surprised to find very little real advice online regarding chronic pain. Jenni methodically covers so many issues that I deal with every day. I love the advice about how to talk to your doctor and how much you can learn from your pharmacist. I suffered from a side effect (one of many) from medication I am taking, that neither my doctor or dentist could cure. My pharmacist had a few remedies that have greatly improved my issue. I never would have thought to ask if I had not read this book. I also enjoyed the interviews and resources, I know I will go back and refer to it over and over. Jenni is an incredible person offering great advice. I don't know how she does so much with everything she is dealing with, she is an inspiration to me. I highly recommend ChronicBabe 101 for anyone who is suffering with pain, or has a partner or loved one afflicted with a chronic illness. Buy one book for you and one for a friend. Bravo Chronic Babe!
