The present edition copies the original through 1987 and moves forward through May 21, 1995. The photographs, usually in color, and maps draw attention to the articles and present additional information. Every available space is used: photographs of magazine advertisements offer additional details. The copious index refers to dates, not page numbers. The tight binding will prohibit xeroxing of interior columns and make rebinding difficult while the full nine pounds of weight puts a significant strain on that sewing. This book is amazing! It weighs about 100 pounds and is filled with information spanning nearly the entire 20th century, minus the Clinton and Bush presidencies, which, lets be honest, we could have done without those anyway. Also, I have a laundry room door that won't stay open. The door is always in my way while I'm doing the laundry. Thanks to this book, now that door is staying open. Whenever I want to read another section, I go to the laundry room, grab the book and let the door swing shut while I sit down and read about details from the 20th century that I never knew before. It really is fascinating information and you'll want to read it cover to cover. But its huge so you can't.

The content of the book itself is amazing. The layout is so cool and shows news articles by date. So many informative headlines and stories that it’s a great historical summary of events.

However, the book arrived in terrible condition. The cover is torn and frayed. The pages are yellowed and marked. This is a very heavily used copy with damage so I’m unable to give it as a gift as intended. Very disappointed but I’ll keep the book to enjoy myself then donate it to a library.

Also if you believe in the Bible it will Chronicle the Psalms starting in 1901 do 1915 very interesting best book ever it's big it's heavy very well put together the pictures are excellent and the typed is very easy to read I Love It. If you're a history buff like me you need it in your library

I found it fascinating, and think it would make a great gift for anyone who loves this country. Be aware, though--it weighs about 9 pounds!
