Dyston believes he's turning dark because his dad injected him and Lakyn with demon blood when they were young. So he's takes off "to protect Scarlett from himself".Scarlett is devastated until she find a note from Dyston telling her to find Rachael to help her learn of her origin. What Scarlett finds sends her on a journey of her own.But soon trouble starts to brew for all their group of friends and no they're on a race against the clock to save the ones in trouble or going down the wrong path.Love will be tested, secrets revealed, enemies emerge, and lives turned upside down. There's an impending war on the horizon and lines are being drawn and sides are being chosen.
Scarlet locates Rachael and Rachael transports her back in time to when Scarlet's parents meet. What Scarlet doesn't realize is that Dyston's parents are responsible for Scarlet's parents meeting in the first place. It appears Scarlet and Dyston have been on a collision course, to be together, their entire lives. Scarlet discovers how her mother was killed and how her father saved her. She also learns that a dark hooded figure is responsible. And she hunts him down. Scarlet returns to Melbourne and is captured by the hooded figure. But the hooded figure only works for the person responsible for her mother's death.
Scarlet soon learns Dyston is on a mission to locate the 9 archangel journals also known as the Arc of Nine. Scarlet meets her father and learns she is not the only existing archangel and everything she has been taught by The Chronicle isn't entirely true.
L.L. Hunter continues with another fast paced read. She draws the reader into the Nephilim world and holds you captive. The story evokes emotions from the readers just as if they were Scarlet or Dyston. The story wants you to hold Scarlet, and tell it will be OK, then scream at her for running off head first into danger. Hunter makes you want to shake Dyston senseless and scream to get it together or leave Scarlet alone. As the story progresses you learn the other characters: Kat and Jacob, Emer and Joshua, Thomas and Delilah, will play a role in the bigger plan. But will the role be for the Michalites or Lucifites? What role will Lakyn, Rachael, and Adam play in the coming storm?
In this book, we learned a lot about the main character Scarlett's past, which was interesting. In the previous books it was mentioned here and there, but we got in depth knowledge, which I loved. We also got to see the first time Dyston and Scarlett met. It was adorable! There's a lot of learning in this book, but it doesn't take away from the action.
The book was well written, and the storyline was well thought out. Again, there were so many things that happened that you just didn't expect. There were also some funny moments in the book, which I appreciated. The whole series was very entertaining.
The ending of The Chronicles of Silver and Gold was a huge cliffhanger, and just plain amazing! I can't stress enough how much I want to read the 4th book, The Chronicles of Rain and Dreams. There's so much going on, and I am so pumped for the next one, to see what will happen next. I have to give this book 5 out of 5 stars! Amazing job, Laura!
Dyston and Scarlett's relationship has hit a rough patch as he goes off to find himself. The pacing of this book doesn't seem to have the whip lashing inducing break neck speed of the other two books. Or maybe I have just gotten used to this writer's style of writing. This book has a quest centered around mysterious archangel journals and some other exciting developments in Scarlett's life. This was an enjoyable read and I look forward to continuing the series. 4 stars. this was a gift
