Chugger-SS Center is most commonly used for homebrewing. It is a booster pump that is designed to transfer hot and cold liquids. The Chugger Pump is not a self-priming pump so DO NOT RUN DRY! The Chugger-SS Center Pump is also comparable to the March LC-3CP-MD 3 Series Pump.

So far I've brewed two 5.5 gallon batches and couldn't be happier with the overall quality of this pump.
Compared to my March pump:
- Chugger quality is as good or better
- Chugger flow rate is higher
- Chugger is as quiet or quieter
- Chugger head is much more durable (stainless steel!)
It's not self-priming, so that's an issue you'll just have to live with that. I find that cycling the power several times helps to get things flowing.
Also, with this model (center inlet) you'll likely have to use a 3/4" garden hose fitting (the inline model ports are both 1/2") -- I wanted to use all Cam-and-Groove Pipe fittings, but I couldn't find a 3/4" NPT female to 1/2" cam lock (all of my hoses have 1/2" females). Not a big deal -- just something to consider.
