This album is incredible all the way through. Andy Hull is fantastic in this mellow collection of songs, and he has probably one of the top side project bands I've ever heard, with Great Captain! Right Away. If you like Manchester Orchestra, you will like this. If you don't like Manchester Orchestra, you will still like this.

If you are a fan of stripped down, acoustic driven songwriting full of unique melody and endless thought, check this out- If not, move along.
5-star album for me.

Andy Hull always has a way of incorporating the finest melodies with quality lyrics. The Church of the Good Thief, though occasionally arid, is littered with hooks that will have you singing along, softly, in no time at all. As a fan of previous work, I can easily get on board with this album. Definitely worth a listen.

This album, every single song on it is a masterpiece. It is something that I will find myself never getting tired of and listening to every single day most likely for the rest of my life. REJOICE FOR GOOD MUSIC HAS ARRIVED IN A WORLD WHERE NIKKI MANAJ IS GIVEN THE TITLE OF MUSIC.

While this album took much longer for me to appreciate than the first two albums in the trilogy (which are also essential, and really ought to be heard first), this album is now my favorite lyrically. It's emotionally far more raw than other stuff from Manchester Orchestra or Andy Hull because the story of the albums keeps the songs from ever sounding like privileged whining.

After loving the first two albums by RAGC, I was a little scared of what the third might be like. I mean, how much brilliance can one man create? As I eagerly awaited the release of the trilogy's final piece, I couldn't help but think I'd be a little let down. Upon listening to track one, my fears vanished. This album is great. Perhaps more quiet and slower than the other two albums, I believe that this one is my favorite. Tracks like "Blame" and "Fur Stop Caring" you will instantly love. Can't find a song on here I don't like and I've listened to them all, over and over. The only reason some might dislike this album is if you don't care for sad music. There is definitely some sadness here but if you dislike music that makes you feel something, you probably wouldn't be reading this. If you like Right Away Great Captain or Manchester Orchestra, I would highly recommend buying The Lost Sea by Right Away Great Captain off of the bandcamp website. It includes some original versions of RAGC and Manc Orc sons as well as a few more songs you won't find anywhere else. I don't think The Lost Sea is really part of the RAGC trilogy but it's definitely worth the $10 if you're an Andy Hull fan. I don't think links are appropriate for Amazon reviews but since the album can't be found on Amazon or iTunes, it's not like they're losing business. Go to the bandcamp website then search The Lost Sea or Right Away Great Captain.
