Each character is fleshed out nicely, and the cast provides some surprising and enjoyable contrasts. From brusque and vulgar LBJ to the sometimes brusque but proper Churchill (who we see through very well placed flashbacks), the rough and tumble Irish and overzealous secret agents, Stokes provides us with characters we in turn care for, root for, and others whom we enjoy watching fall.
Well paced and filled with historical tidbits that betray the authors love for both American and British history of the 20th Century, The Churchill Plot is well worth the price.
