What a wonderful story!
What would you wish if you had 24 magical hours (midnight-to-midnight)? Camille "Cami" Carlina inherited a magical cameo locket which granted her a temporary transformation, a Cinderella body makeover. She was a modern day Cinderella and looked beautiful in the mirror. Did the wish work for her or was it wishful thinking? Most individuals get a frog and no Prince Charming to show for. Now, a Prince Charming would make her life complete. Where are you Prince Charming?
Lancelot "Lance" Rainey got a hot date with Cami. Will he realize true beauty isn't skin deep? Will she take off like Cinderella or leave shoes behind? Be sure to read the book to find out what the future holds for them.
Awesome is what I say! This story by far exceeded my expectations regarding a new author. This story captured my attention right away and the pacing didn't slack off. I was caught up in the fascinating, truly original storyline, romance, and drama. I was blown away by her well written, descriptive storytelling, and dynamic characters.

I give 5 stars to Cinderella Had it Easy (The Cinderella Body Club Series, Book 1) by Jennifer Conner.
****
The story has all the captivating elements of the timeless Cinderella story from a hard-working young woman named Camille (Cami) Carlina who works in a small office/storage room on the basement floor of a television station to a handsome 'prince' more commonly known as college professor Lance Rainey from Boston with a Ph.D. in Early Modern European history to the enchanting ball which in this case is a fundraiser at The Lightfield Museum in Portland. Each of the characters instantly found their way to my heart.

From the Inside Flap

She opened her eyes and frowned. "Do I look any different?" she asked, expectantly.
Raven shook her head. "Nope. I told you it was BS."
Always the optimist, Tess chimed in, "Maybe we did something wrong. You can ask your grandma on your next visit and then we can try again."
"Sure, that sounds like a plan." Cami had to admit, she was a little disappointed. "Maybe Grandma will stay awake next time to finish the story."
The girls cleaned up their plates and washed out their glasses. Cami hugged each of them goodnight as they left and headed for home, and then she went off to bed.
As she snuggled down under the cat quilt her mom made her, she stared at the ceiling, and began to drift off to sleep. "Prince Charming...where are you? Come out, come out, wherever you are." She sighed and closed her eyes. "Too bad the magic in the locket didn't work."

Cami and her three of her closest girlfriends get together one night a week for wine and appetizers and discuss their single status. They all wish for true love, but none of them have yet to meet their "Prince Charming." until one day, Cami shows them the locket her grandmother recently gave her. Cami's grandmother claims the locket has magical powers.
“There’s no such thing as magic,” her friend Annalise scoffs, pouring herself another glass of wine. But Cami decides―with enough wine in her―to follow her grandmother's instruction and wish on the locket anyway. What can it hurt? She passes the locket on to her friends and they all make a wish too. But nothing happens. When she goes to bed that night, Cami sighs and closes her eyes. Too bad the magic in the locket didn’t work, she thinks.
Or did it?

When I was a little girl, I was so fascinated with the Cinderella fairy tale, it was my Halloween costume three years in a row so it's no wonder I was interested in this title. At one time or another in our lives, most women dream of an opportunity like the one Cami was given - looking on the outside the way we picture ourselves in our wildest dreams That fantasy is probably second only to the one of winning the lottery!

This is a simple and sweet romance, no life or death plot twists or explicit sex. It is a charming quick read and not inappropriate for younger readers. There are some really cute lines - "She didn't have a problem with caffeine, she had a problem without it." is one of my favorites and one with which I can completely identify.

Incurable optimists believe in magic, right? Hmm...I think I have an old locket in my jewelry box. Maybe I should go dig it out!

What a fun start to a new series of books by various authors for The Cinderella Body Club. When Cami gets a locket from her Grandmother Camille, she shares with her girl friends, it is supposedly magically, but only for 24 hours, and they each make a wish upon the locket. What a shock to wake up and look in the mirror and see the woman she had envisioned for herself, and each of her friends saw the magic for themselves too. Believing herself beautiful, Cami has a boost of self confidence. This story is entertaining with delightful characters, witty dialogue and a heartwarming message. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and dreams can come true with your own special Prince Charming

Cute short story about a woman and her insecurities on finding romance because of her physical scars. She believed a locket that was given to her by her grandmother would transform her for one night. One day she met Lance and thought he only liked her new face. Lance sees beyond her physical scars. I loved this story.

I am not generally a romance fan but this was a light, fun read and stayed true to the story line of Cinderella but in a modern setting. The story is really about Cami although three girlfriends are also mentioned. They are all geeky, smart and fiesty. They do not see themselves as the kind of girls men are drawn to across a crowded room and they are all yearning for love and romance. Cami has a a secret weapon in the form of a magic locket given to her by her grandmother, Allegedly, the locket has the power to make a woman beautiful for twenty four hours. With nothing to lose except geekiness, the girls give it a shot.

Integral to the story is the idea of the power of perception. The locket works its magic and Cami wakes up beautiful. So now, smart, fiesty and beautiful she meets the man of every woman's dreams and they fall madly in love. For one lovely day then Cami knows she msut go back to her nerdy, scarred self and wonders if her new love will even recognize the real her. I won't give away the ending but all ends well.

Conner suggests that all the girls participated in the "spell" and hints that at least one of them had the same change of appearance Cami experienced but we hear nothing of these other girls after the beginning. It left a feeling of loose ends for me as a reader. What happened with the other girls? This was a very short book so there was plenty of room to rell the other girls' stories as well. Maybe Conner plans a series. If so, personally I would have preferred the tale of all four girls in the same book. I do appreciate that the author was able to tell a sweet love story without all the heavy breathing and crotch clutching which turns me off in so many "romance" novels.

Cinderella comes alive in a magical new romance. During a shared evening of friendship, four (4) girlfriends listen to a story that was related to one of the girls during a visit with her grandmother about a beautiful and possibly miraculous locket. As the grandmother gave her granddaughter the precious locket during the visit, the retelling of the story elicits imagination and possibilities for each of the girls. Is the locket magical? Could it bring a wish come true?

The story has all the captivating elements of the timeless Cinderella story from a hard-working young woman named Camille (Cami) Carlina who works in a small office/storage room on the basement floor of a television station to a handsome `prince' more commonly known as college professor Lance Rainey from Boston with a Ph.D. in Early Modern European history to the enchanting ball which in this case is a fundraiser at The Lightfield Museum in Portland. Each of the characters instantly found their way to my heart.

I also loved the dialogue between the characters and the shared thoughts of Cami. The dialogue is always at the right "tempo" for the story from fun to sweet to sexy to meaningful without being preachy. It doesn't miss a beat! Here are two (2) of my favorites:

"Cami wasn't a morning person. She wondered if her blood type was coffee. She didn't have a problem with caffeine, she had a problem without it."

"She wanted a second glass of champagne, but thought better of it since she hadn't had time for dinner. Instead, she nibbled on a few cream cheese and herb-stuffed finger sandwiches and washed them down with a cup of sparkling lemon water."

I wish I could gift this story to all adults who are searching for self-acceptance and self-confidence.
