I loved the hero’s quiet intensity, the dignity with which M.J. Fredrick characterizes Selena, a young woman with Down syndrome, and the tenderness and fierce protectiveness that surrounds her (the relationship between siblings is one of the strengths of the novel).
I would have liked to see some development of the animosity of some residents towards the Braun family and I think that perhaps some things were solved too quickly, but that didn’t detract from the general quality of the story.
No easy solutions with M.J. Fredrick, she is really an outstanding writer.
A quote: "He [the hero] was stroking a finger down the kitten's delicate spine, and Miranda [the heroine] had never thought she'd be jealous of a kitten."
For a while it even seemed like perhaps someone was ghost writing this story, for even the style and wording seemed different.....
I am just happy I have read the others in this series,,,they were great, so don't judge the author by this one.
