We needed another NES controller, and didn't have an option to pick up a Nintendo original at a good price, so we gave this on a shot. It's awesome! Holding both controllers you can't really tell the difference; the weight, plastic, color, etc. are all the same. The only two differences we noted are the cord on the Cirka is longer than the NES original's, and the textured plastic (black part) on the Cirka looks more "pitted" (more deeply textured) than the brand controller, although it feels just as smooth. Weird. We're quite happy with this one. The Nintendo one's over 30 years old, and feels mushy. Maybe with popularity of retro gaming Nintendo will re-release their old controllers or someone will develop a Wii U-to-NES adapter so we can use the NES Classic controllers on our old systems, but for now, if you want new, non-mushy controllers, these are the way to go.

These are very close to the original. The only functional difference is that the d-pad is slightly stiffer and the text is a little different. Weight, color and feel are all basically the same. I'll use this and save my originals.

Pretty much an exact clone of the real NES controller. Even the back of the controller looks the same, with same placement of screws. Button feel is pretty close to the real unit, however it is hard to compare the two since my real controllers survived my childhood with food, soda and who knows what else that ended up on them when used by a 7 year old.
Worth the money, and I plan on getting a second one. Longer cord is a nice addition too.

I cut and re-soldered the wires and it worked just fine. The quality of the controller is great though

Have original controller side by side and really can't feel the difference. Need to look at the label on the back to tell which controller I have.
Side note, one of the controllers I bought had an issue with the cord being pinched, I cut and re-soldered the wires and it worked just fine. The quality of the controller is great though, and cheaper than buying an original worn out one.

I am very pleased with the purchase. I have ordered several 3rd party NES controllers to play on my retron 2, but they've each had problems and none, aside from the one I was provided by Hyperkin, were able to effectively play Tecmo Super Bowl (they would all not be able to effectively select plays and there were problems with the D-Pad. I was delighted when I found out that this controller worked perfectly and controlled very well. If you're looking for a 3rd party controller for NES or retro consoles, this is it.

Played for a week hard before review. Well built for aftermarket 8 bit controller. Directional pad when pushing down is way to finicky and untrue, affects playability on gems requiring lots of down movement. Buttons are fine.

Was alright; pressing in two directions at once doesn't seem to work properly (i.e., Up+Left) May just need broken in, but that makes it useless for some games. I'll beat on it a bit and update this review.

mine allows me to turn left and right when I am holding only down or up on the D-pad, thats a big problem for me but could be a plus for other gamers. Still the best 3rd party solution I've found

Hit and miss
Reviewed in Canada on October 18, 2017Verified Purchase
Seems to be hit and miss with this brand. Ordered two controllers. The buttons on both were excellent. For the d-pad, holding up can be tricky as the window for "up" can be pretty narrow, resulting in an accidental up-left or up-right if you don't hold it in just the right spot. After some getting used to, it's my main controller. For the other controller I ordered, similar issue, but down-left and down-right absolutely would not register no matter what. For example, it would be impossible to slide under the first wall in Super Mario Bros world 1-2 as big mario. So I had to return one of my two units. Still, this appears to be the best 3rd party NES controller available at the moment. Just make sure your favorite games are playable before you decide to keep it.

As Good As the Original

This is a great controller. The only reason you can tell the difference between this controller and one made by Nintendo is because it doesn't say "Nintendo" on the controller. I use this controller all the time even though I have original controllers I could be using because it is that good. Very good quality.

It's the real deal! Came in original packaging and paired beautifully with Retropie software
Having grown up as a kid playing on my NES, if it didn't have the extra buttons for playing newer games, you wouldn't know it's not an OEM controller!
