Cisco WAP4410N Wireless-N Access Point with PoE enablement and Advanced Security
Features 1 Gigabit Ethernet port to transfer data at high speeds
The Cisco WAP4410N Wireless-N Access Point lets you connect Wireless-N (802.11n), Wireless-G (802.11g), and Wireless-B (802.11b) devices to your wired network, making it easy to provide wireless access in the workplace. Power over Ethernet (PoE) support makes the access point easy to install - you can mount it anywhere, even without ready access to a power plug. With appropriate PoE support at the other end, such as a PoE switch, you need to run only one cable to the access point to deliver both data and power. Of course, you can also use the included AC adapter if power is available nearby or you are not connecting to a PoE switch or injector. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. This intuitive tool allows you to take full advantage of all the access point security and quality of service features with an easy to use management interface.
Cisco Small Business Access Points - A Complete Portfolio
Cisco WAP4410N features 3 adjustable and removable dipole antennas with MIMO technology High Performance You Can Trust
Wireless-N is not only the fastest wireless protocol, but also it’s backwards compatible for users running 802.11b and 802.11g devices. The access point includes 3 adjustable and removable antennas with MIMO (multiple-in, multiple-out) technology, which increases wireless throughput and expands the range to reduce “dead spots” providing more efficient coverage of your small business. Without any notice the WAP4410N loses contact with the LAN and will not pass traffic from it to the LAN, so the wireless device will make a wireless connection to the access point, but it will never receive an IP Address from the DHCP server.
The process is random and can happen anytime. All of the fixes that are offered over the years have only delayed the process. The loss of traffic flow can happen many times over a single day or even days on end.
Powering the device via AC Power or POE has no effect. Sometimes a reboot will fix the problem, sometimes a hard reboot (pull power) will fix the problem, sometimes nothing will fix the problem and I have to wait for the problem to disappear on its own.
What connects the WAP4410N to the LAN side has no effect, because I have had it connected to different devices (routers, switches), different brands (AdTran, Dell, and Cisco), different speeds (100Mbps, 1Gbps) and even a brand new Cisco 2960-S switch ratched down to 100Mbps/Full Duplex has had no effect.Read more ›
Sorry to hear about your experience with the WAP4410N version 1! We recently released a firmware update that resolves many of the issues you encountered. As a first step, we recommend installing the software, which you can find here: http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/relea
We hope this helps!

Right out of the box, the units worked as advertised with zero hassle. I updated the firmware, changed the admin password, assigned both static IP addresses and resolved the host name to enable roaming which has worked well thus far. I initially enabled SSID broadcast to make it easier to find for setup, but I will eventually disable. So far (anecdotal) the speed seems good, and the APs have had no issues with a mix of a/b/g/n devices. I have no plans to enable PoE, as there are known issues with the link speed dropping to 100mb/s. So far, so good.
It has now been a month, and I have enabled a second guest SSID and have configured links with a number different devices (WGA600n gaming adapter for an Xbox360, WET610N for printer with no hassle at all). The performance and range have been excellent. No problems with the VLAN or the QoS functions for streaming.
In the final analysis; a little pricey but an excellent product. 5 Stars.
Looking for an alternative, I did some research and found the TRENDnet TEW-670AP Dual Band Wireless N Access Point. After buying nothing but Linksys products for years, I was reluctant to trust an unknown brand like TRENDnet but after my experience with Cisco, I had nothing to lose. I decided to try TRENDnet and purchased the TEW-670AP. The unit has great specs, 5GHz that the Cisco unit couldn't match and great performance, often connecting at 300Mbps. It also costs less than the Cisco unit. I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend the TRENDnet TEW-670AP. Avoid the Cisco WAP4410n like the plague!

The setup of these units was simple, the firmware is stable, and configuration was straight=forward. Since they were setup they have worked flawlessly and required no further attention.
The only thing a bit unusual (for those used to Netgear, Linksys, etc.) is that you have to setup a Cisco account (no charge just register online) to be able to download firmware, etc. This ended being unnecessary because the firmware in the unit was up-to-date.
If you're looking for really good WAPs that support Wireless-N and have lots of configuration options (e.g., Mesh, Multiple SSIDs, etc.) I highly recommend this unit. It has a slightly higher price than other (consumer units) you can buy, but it definitely deserves the "business-class" label that Cisco gives it.
Thank you for your positive feedback! We are glad to hear you are satisfied with your Cisco WAP4410N! If you need further support feel free to visit our support community at
