This is my second CM Stiletto after an unfortunate incident with my first, and it is absolutely worth it.

I initially found Citizen Men's after looking at Movado watches. The CM Axiom Citizen Eco-Drive Men's AU1065-58E Axiom Black Ion Plated Stainless Steel Watch grabbed my attention as it is very similar to the Movado Sapphire Black PVD-finish watch, but with a much prettier price tag.

After looking around, I found this watch; the black on black on black immediately stood out to me, but I was on the fence about getting what I originally wanted, or take a gamble with this one. I decided to try the Stiletto first, and once I actually put it on, I knew there was no contest. The Stiletto is elegant, works for any occasion, doesn't follow the oversized-watch trend so ubiquitous today, and just looks damn good overall. I didn't care for the Eco-Drive but after almost a combined year of ownership, I've come to appreciate the fact that I'll never have to replace the batteries on this.

There are no real downsides to this watch, but like others have already said, it can be a bit hard to tell the time at times. I've learned to just tilt the face a couple degrees which completely fixes that problem for me. That being said, if it's night time and you aren't near a light source you're SOL, but I don't think anyone buying this watch can say it's for practicality. A little date-ticker would have been an incredibly useful addition (and kind of why I wanted the axiom), but I can see how that might clash with the monolithic layers of black.

Some have pointed out that the black coating has chipped away on theirs. Mine has yet to show any signs of wear and tear, despite being my daily driver that I'm not to kind to. I've even showered with it on a few times in drunken stupors, and it's still working perfectly.

I give this watch a 4.5/5 star rating! This is a great watch and don't be mislead by my 4/5 rating, I will explain later. Color, design, weight and feel is great. I wanted people to admire at my watch for the right reasons and not the wrong. I wanted people to be mesmerized by my watch and not look at it because something shiny caught their eye, but because it is one unique piece of art and craftsmanship. And this watch does just that, it captivates people for all the right reasons!

Color- the black on black is a force to be reckoned with. Not flashy, but not plain either. It is a quiet color, but very loud at the same time. One of the main reasons why I bought it.
Eco drive- you will never need to replace the battery because it harnesses power through light, natural and artificial, which is great (but does not mean other things will not need replacing).
Design- the band on which the watch sits on is stainless steel, which has a nice cool touch to it. It seems like your wearing a bracelet and is very comfortable . The face isn't too big or too small, just right.
Weight- VERY light

Cons-
Personally I like to have a 'Seconds hand' just because I like to know if my watch is working. I find myself looking at other things to confirm that the watch is still telling time correctly because I cannot SEE it functioning.

A very stylish watch, sober in design and light on the wrist. The size of the watch is sensible, not too small and not too big. It is only about half an inch of depth and two and a half inch wide. Mind that the bracelet is not easy to adapt especially if not in possession of the appropriate tool. The Eco-drive Stiletto works on Light-power, 11 hours of sunlight recharges the battery for a full year (2minutes for a day!), of course household light also recharges the battery, but it is less effective. The battery system is said to last a lifetime! The watch is precise and I have not noticed any change in the time compared to my other very reliable battery-powered Tissot watch. The dark side of this watch is its absence of any fluorescent tips to read time at night, nor any hand for seconds (the minutes' hand moves every 4 seconds). The rather poor contrast of the hands can make it difficult to read in unlit environment. Apart from this I am very glad I bought it. It is different from other watches, original and innovative in its concept and sets you apart from the crowd. The sobriety, stylishness and lightness were what I was looking for. Furthermore, the price is rather attractive, being affordable compared to other very expensive watches. Unfortunately it can only be purchased in the US, so consider VAT+shipping (40 dollars for shipping plus 70 dollars for VAT; I bought it from Switzerland, other countries'VAT might vary, check before you order!). A reliable and interesting watch that makes a statement on environmental and fashion issues... Thank you for reading my review.

I had up until now only purchased large 40mm+ watches, so when I first saw the minimalistic Stiletto I almost returned it right away. It was the exact opposite of the type of watch I liked to wear at that time. I gave it a shot though, and I'm glad I did. It's super slim and light making it very comfortable to wear. After wearing this watch for a while, my larger watches felt huge, heavy, awkward, and uncomfortable. On the style and design; it's black on black, but I don't find it difficult at all to read as other reviewers have said. If anything, I think the minimal design makes it easier to read than other watches that seem too busy on the face. The hands are shiny black and the hour marks are reflective giving the face a bit of sparkle when you move it. It's easy to read under most lighting I found, but if you're inside a room with very little light, you might have to look at it from an angle to make out the time. Also, it has a sapphire crystal winch was something I was looking for. I like this watch so much it has pretty much replaced all my other watches as my daily wear.

What a beautiful looking watch. Very well made, it is very very thin, take three 1p coins and stack them, and that is how thick it is. Obviously there are no luminous hands etc, so it really is a dress watch and you will not be able to see it in the dark or if the lighting is poor. Because of the slightly angled hands and hour markers though, I realised that if you turn it round your wrist slightly as you're looking, you'll get reflections off lights to be able to see the time easier. It is well made, the strap is secure and comfortable once you've taken out the right number of links, and it's fully waterproof. I wore it every day for almost 3 years (until switching to a smart watch) and never took it off.As it's solar powered, you don't need to change the battery either.

Wow. Looks amazing. Super thin and black as night. That's black as night...strap, dial and hands! Wait a minute?! We'll I would if I could see the hands!! It's all black!!
Yes, you can just about make out the time but it's not instant! A couple of florescent dots at the end of the hands would have turned this four star review into a perfect five!!

ADDITIONAL EDIT:
The beautiful strap needs to be mentioned! Superb design that becomes a seamless band when on the wrist. Neat and unobtrusive (but looks good!). Considering the whole watch costs less than the Apple metal linked strap…this watch is a bargain and the strap is better than the Apple watch strap! And yes it's a black face…but it's different!

This is an elegant watch, understated and stylish. Anyone worried about reading the dial in normal light, don't be. A small tilt is the most I have needed to get a clear reading. Can't see it in the dark? Of course not.

I was more worried about how the strap or casing may scratch or stand up to normal daily wear. The metal is plated so it's not just a thinly-lacquered surface.

I love the thinness of this watch, given the popular trend for bulkier timepieces (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Overall, I'm very impressed, it's a beautiful watch and excellent value.

Nice design. While all black model is easier to read than you might imagine - you subconsciously tilt the face to let the hands reflect available light. It will however win no prizes for clarity! It looks really nice - less fussy than the picture suggests. I would prefer that it was slightly larger however I think it's a good stab at unisex size as it stands, and I think the trend for large watches has more or less passed - so it may prove timeless in that regard. In my experience black ion plating does wear, so I would consider another model if you expose your watches to a lot of abrasion - keyboard work can be particularly hard on bracelets, however this one is so slim it should see less contact - just bear it in mind!
