As a true manufacture d’horlogerie, CITIZEN integrates a comprehensive manufacturing process from creating individual components to a watch’s final assembly. It’s an artisan’s approach to watch making based on pushing forward the boundaries of technology and leveraging our experience toward exploring new possibilities.
One pivotal technological breakthrough was the development of a light-driven watch. CITIZEN pioneered this engineering innovation well ahead of other watch manufacturers as early as 1976, which led to the launch of the highly acclaimed Eco-Drive in 1995. Utilizing electrical power converted from virtually any light source, this extraordinary innovation changed forever the way watches could be powered. Eco-Drive eliminated the need to ever replace batteries, which made it especially beneficial to areas where such specialist batteries were not obtainable. This leveled the field for citizens of virtually every country to be able to experience unrestricted joy of wearing and using a CITIZEN watch.
The product development policy, “The Fusion of Technology and Beauty,” remains a constant motivation for us to merge cutting-edge technology with perfection of design beauty, which as a consequence inspires people to strive to be their best at any time.
CITIZEN launches a new campaign in collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy, Better Starts Now. This is the simple belief that no matter who you are or what you do, it is always possible to make something better — and now is the time to start doing it. We believe that better and now are both infinite, and that there is always a next ‘better’ and a new ‘now’ in which you can start pursuing it. It was clear from the onset of this project that we are dedicated to this ideal…not to the past but to the present, and all the way we can improve it. To help communicate this belief to the world we have created a new global CITIZEN brand movie, brand identity and brand website that represents out Better Starts Now philosophy.

-Solar-powered Eco-Drive. Hopefully servicing won't be required for several years.
-Subdued look for a chronograph; from 2 feet away the subdials fade into the background of the face and does not interfere with reading of the time. You only notice the dials when you want to notice them. Very thin chrono second hand. All this = an extremely readable watch.
-Chrono second hand = 5 beats per second. It's no Bulova Precisionist, but it's a nice sweep for a quartz.
-Limited to 60 minutes; no hour totalizer.
-Hands of minute subdial does not stop precisely on each minute. "Is that 22 or 23 minutes?"
-Stop/start only; no split time function.
-Face has this weird looking plastic film that reflects like a CD in bright light in some angles. Not apparent indoors. Might be semi-transparent for eco-drive functionality?
-Subdials: 12o'clock = chrono minute totalizer, 6o'clock = seconds counter, 9'oclock = 24 hour clock indicator (Good I guess if you're stuck in a cave and can't tell day from night.. but it's also useful for when you're setting your watch so that your date doesn't shift over at noon. Other than that, I wish it doubled as a chrono hour totalizer).
-Case and bracelet = uniform, brushed titanium finish. Minute accents of polish on the edges of the lugs and on the chronograph buttons and stem.
-Single fold, Side push-button disengagement of clasp.
-Subdials are sunken into the face, but there's a rim around each dial, similar to a crater. Reminds me of when the liquid metal T1000 gets shot in Terminator 2.
This watch is well put together . It is a very attractive piece to look at . It stands out when you wear it to work or even a casual night out . I love the fact that people can't help but to stare at your wrist trying to get a glimpse of it when having a conversation amongst friends .I've had nothing but great compliments about it . Does not scratch as easy as some reviewers may say . It takes its bumps and bruises well .I look forward to purchasing another watch from the Citizen Eco Drive Titanium collection. Most importantly the price was great at Amazon. I would highly RECOMMEND this watch to anyone who is looking to invest in a BEAUTIFUL TIME PIECE.....
Also, the on-line pictures do not do the watch justice. It has a similiar appearance to the Omega Seamaster (watch worn by James Bond in the most recent movies) with the black dial face and titanium band, except this watch also has the chronograph and for a lot less money. It has a classy look and can be worn to work, dinner, sporting events, etc. As noted in other reviews, the date window is slightly recessed but does not detract from the overall appearance of the watch. Very satisfied with the purchase of this watch.
In doors, the watch is dark. When you are outside in the sunshine, it looks fantastic. Very easy to read. The keys for me were the obvious features: Sapphire Crystal, Eco-Drive (no battery changing), and light weight Titanium band.
Watch can be worn with a suit or simply casual attire. I got to be very, very honest; being a die-hard Amazon Super Fan, I did not purchase the watch from Amazon. The watch was actually over $100 cheaper (brand new and the exact same watch) at another website (new egg) and it arrived in 2 days with zero shipping. Again, I do 99% of my online purchases from Amazon, but not on this particular item.
I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this watch to anyone else that is thinking about obtaining this model.
I had been looking for an Eco Drive Titanium for a long time in my price range and found this one on sale. It's not my favorite of that series, however it looks much better in person. Once I received it the main thing that blew me away was the light weight. It feels like you don't even have it on. That's the biggest advantage to the titanium, however the disadvantage is that it seems to scratch really easily. I was reaching under a couch and when I drew my hand back the clasp dragged across the floor. You would think I took a key to it. If you baby it well enough you won't have this issue, but it's still notable. Of course when it arrived I had to get it sized so I took it to a jeweler. Side note: I don't care how long a store has been in business don't assume they know what they're doing for all watches as that is a small percentage of their inventory. I got it sized at a jewelry store that dealt in nothing but Citizen watches. When she brought it out it was a little tight, but I wore it for a day to see how it would feel later. It was definitely too tight, so I had one link removed and moved the spring on the clasp one tighter. It was a perfect fit so I left happy. When I got home to take it off I hear a pin drop... and then another... and then two links fall out. Luckily I had my hand on it and found the pins. After that I did some research and it turns out this watch has a pin and collars, not just the expanding pins. When you take it in to get it re-sized or size your own, keep this in mind.Read more ›

A very nice looking light weight watch. Only 4 stars because the band seems to get scuffed but maybe that's to be expected since it's not steel.Published 8 months ago by Barn
