This is definitely a more formal watch and over the years has become my daily driver anytime I'm in a brown belt/shoes. It looks as good with jeans and a polo as is does with a suit and tie. As such, it sees action about 3-4 times/week. This watch has been extremely reliable and even today looks fantastic. It keeps near-perfect time and I've never had any issues with it (or any other Citizen Eco-Drive watch that I own, for that matter). As some other reviewers have commented, the face, while blue, is very dark blue- which I happen to love. In bright sunlight, the face has a brilliant shine and is almost a dark blue sapphire color. This makes it quite unique and one of it's best physical attributes.
Of all my watches, this watch consistently gets the most comments from people and has become my favorite watch- beating out even its more expensive counterparts in the watch box. I own several other "nicer" watches but it seems that not more than a few weeks go by without someone stopping me during a conversation and asking me about it. They always seem surprised when they realize it's a Citizen, which I get a kick out of.
I do wish that Citizen would offer more of their watches with a deployment clasp on a leather strap. I had often thought that this watch would look so much more regal and high-end if it had one. As such, about a year ago I invested in a higher-end alligator deployment band and deployment clasp for it. Needless to say, that upgrade has taken this watch to a whole new level and I love it more now than ever. The upgrade was a nominal cost (about $150) and it has been worth every penny. Admittedly though, despite the new band, the original band was much softer. Even after a year of regular use, the original band seemed to break in better and feel better on my skin.
I would recommend this watch to anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable dress watch.
The strengths of this watch are the fact that it has a Eco-Drive movement, titanium case, easy to read military style dial, and 200 meters water resistance. It has a very nice look and is of a size that will look good on a large range of wrists. I feel it wears slightly larger than the 42mm size.
The weaknesses are related to the bezel and the band. The bezel is stainless steel, not titanium. It is a uni-rotational divers style. However, Citizen does not make many watches with rotating bezels and it shows. The bezel has some "play" in it, and the rotational clicks are somewhat loose and cheap feeling. Also it is only 60 clicks. The other thing I did not like about the bezel is that it is finished in a high polish, which is not in keeping with the overall military style of the watch. A brushed or bead-blasted finish would have been preferable. The 22mm band is thin leather with a reptile print. It is ok, but a bit short and probably will fit only up to an 8" wrist (mine is 7-1/4"). I felt it was too dressy and chose to replace it with a canvas one.(Hadley Roma MS850 22mm Green Genuine Cordura Fabric Stitched Watch Band)
Overall a nice watch that has some minor flaws. I got this on Amazon on sale for about two bills which I feel was fair.
