My girlfriend got me this watch for my birthday for a more dressy watch to wear to work. My workplace is business casual and I just recently started getting into watches. I had a more casual/tough Timex that is nice but doesn't exactly look dressy. I am not a fan of lots of silver/stainless metal bands or lots of stuff going on in the watch. I just wanted something as simple and elegant looking as possible. This watch hit the nail on the head.
The motion is spot on with each tic and hand placement directly on top of the marks. It has held time perfectly for over a month now so I doubt there will be any issues. The only down side to this watch is the leather band is quite stiff. I wore the watch every day for a month and it is still not broke in. Eventually I think it will break in but its taking its time. Not anything to put the watch down with though.
For the price you cant beat this watch.
Update: Received this watch at the end of March 2016 its now beginning of September, the watch is still going strong however the band is still very stiff. I wear the watch every day to work and you would think after 6 months it would be broke in and loosened up by now. It is still very stiff and when I take it off the bands form back to almost straight. I am going to look for a new band possibly get a brown band to go with a brown belt/shoe combo.
Most importantly, it keeps PERFECT TIME!!! You would think that in this day and age, that would not be too terribly difficult a feat to achieve, yet I have several watches that do not. Kudos Citizen!
The only minor issue I had with this wonderful watch is that the face is silver- it appears to be white in the listing. I wanted a watch with a white face, and was a little disappointed when I opened the box and saw that it was silver, but decided to keep it anyway, and I'm glad I did.
I do find it a touch too big for my 6.5" wrist. I would have preferred if the case was either 38mm or 39mm instead of 40mm which it is. It bothered me enough to consider returning it. But it looks so nice, and is so silent, and does not need batteries ever (or at least for 10 years or thereabouts). Besides, it is not outrageously oversized either, so I can get used to it.
As reported by others, the leather strap is stiff overall. I twisted it back and forth several times to soften it. So, not a problem for me. While it is a little more difficult to put on and take off, it does not bother me at all when it is on. The inside of the leather strap is very nice, almost like felt. It says "Thailand." It also has the size (21), which is good to know, since I may switch out the black strap with a brown one.
It appears Amazon.com is actually an Authorized Distributor for Citizen. Therefore, I can register online for additional warranty.
I'm happy with this purchase. I hope to provide an update after a few months.
I was initially concerned with the gold/silver contrast from the photos (as those are typically opposite color schemes), but after receiving the watch it is not an issue at all. The gold is very subtle and works very nicely with the rest of the design. This is also a very comfortably thin watch. Thick enough that it feels sturdy and well-made, but also the thinnest watch I own (though, I only own 4 or 5 watches; and this is my only dress watch). The band is nice-looking and comfortable, although for my wrist size, I seem to be between holes. Therefore the watch is either too tight or slightly too loose (my wrist is about 7 inches in circumference). No big deal, it still works and looks good.
Bottom line, this is a beautiful watch that seems to be very well-made and keeps accurate time. I would definitely recommend this watch (or other Citizens!) to a friend. In fact I bought the same watch for my brother for Christmas after I received mine and he loves it too!
-really inexpensive when I bought it, $69 I believe.
-looks very nice, the gold is very subtle, unlike the picture.
-very light and fairly comfortable right out of the box with the super stiff band.
Only con is that band that's very stiff. It's also pretty short. Not taking away a star because I think it should loosen up with some wear.
