The concept was awesome. A classic good vs. evil, with some interesting twists and turns. How much of our lives are free will? Is our conscious just our conscious or is it something more? When we hear things, who is really behind those messages? This book sets out to answer those questions by introducing us to the whispers and nudges and the guardians-both good and bad-behind them
Like life this book wasn't just filled with happy moments there were quite a few hard moments to deal with. The raw emotions and hard situations added to the book and illustrated perfectly why the guardians are needed.
After you read this book I promise you will stop and think more about the thoughts and words you hear and speak to others. You will listen for the guardians during the tough times and question which side of the line the voices you hear belong to.
I recommend this book and would absolutely give it as a gift to any of my friends. This book really makes you think and alters how you think, that is what makes it a great book. The story doesn't just end when the book does, after the last page you will take this story to your life and in your heart.
If you are looking for a suspense, a story that flows, an adventure, something that will make you think and wonder about what really happens in a world we cannot see, then this will be an exciting read for you. I recommend it!
The story touches the heart and for some it may hit close to home. However, we can benefit from the message which is brilliantly written. I had to get to the end, had to know what was going to happen in young Alex Honor's life. I was given a glimpse of what was to come and I suspect we have much to learn about his future, and the number of people he will help to fight the ugly emotions many of us all to often feel.
I would say the "City of the Guardians" is a work of excellence. The brief introduction to the second book was positively riveting! It's one that will go to the top of my "must read" list.
