When setting the sensitivity, ensure that you set it near a transmission source: move the device back and forth near the signal to find the threshold. Once you have discovered the 3 dimensional space that it must be in to detect, back a little bit away (6-8 inches) then set the dial a tad bit below the threshold; when you come nearer to the signal, it should hit on the next light up the meter. This will make more sense if you actually have it in your hands, but trust me... it does work.
As for the pinhole cam finder... it works too. It's a little odd, and the pinhole will obviously be very small, but it will look like a little red dot. It works best if you have both eyes scanning; one through the filter, and one natural. When you see a dot through the lens, but that same dot is not present in your natural vision, then you've found it.
So in conclusion... yes. I recommend it. Yes it is cheap as hell. But you know what? The build quality is not too bad (on mine anyway). For under 20 bucks, it does what it says it does.
