As far as Ty and Summer goes.....I felt that Ty had every right to feel the way he did about Summer. She knew from the beginning that he'd planned to leave, and why. If anything, I'm not so sure I would have been able to forgive her for marrying my best friend just a few short years after he'd left town, especially when she knew they had fought over it, and in the end Ty was blamed for the fire..... and everything else that ever happened.
But at the same time I can't really lay all the blame on Summer's shoulders, either. She was very young at the time, and all of her friends and family lived there. It was the only life she'd ever known. Was she supposed to run off into the unknown with Ty, all because he begged her to? He wasn't even sure himself where he was heading, or how he expected to support them. No. I think she did the right thing by not going, but it couldn't have been easy watching the love of your life walk away, either. Another thing....how long was she supposed to sit around hoping he come back for her? Sure she shouldn't have married his best friend when she was still in love with him, but I didn't expect her to put her life on hold forever, for someone who may, or may not ever return.
But when these two were together.....no one can deny the emotions sparks that fly between these two. It was like a fireworks display gone bad!!! One big, hot explosion!!!
See the emotions that the author brought out in her readers? I think Ms. Sands has a very great career a head of her, and I'll be here to cheer her on.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The whole book is about Summer wanting Tyler to stay, first when they're teenagers and again later. Does Summer once, ONCE!, put herself in Tyler's shoes? Nope, all she does is think about what's best for her while trying to force Tyler into her way of thinking. It's selfish, arrogant and the worst kind of love. Don't even get me started on how Summer filled her time while Tyler was gone. Sigh...
The manufactured drama in this book is SO blatantly there just to fill pages. Every problem/issue is resolved within the next page. Really?
