Claiming his Mate is a very short, but a funny and sexy little story. I would have loved to learn more about the pack and some of the other characters in the book, but understandingly with only limited time this was not going to happen. Hopefully that means we will see more of this pack in future books.
Jace Matthews is the sexy Alpha who senses his mate as soon as he sees her. Unfortunately his mate his human. On advice from his family, he decides to take things slow and tries to form a friendship with Michelle first. Good in theory, but when you add in some awkward and compromising positions it only leads to Michelle thinking that Jace is gay.
Once Michelle realizes that Jace is attracted to her things really start to run hot. As always nothing is easy in a good shifter book and when Michelle is targeted by bullies who wanted her, Jace hands are tied and the mating begins.
Enjoyable book. Easy to read. Well worth the price of admission!
2 THUMBS UP!!!
Although short, this tale was sweet and sexy with good bits of humor thrown in. My usual problem with novellas is that the story would seem to feel rushed, but fortunately I didn't get that from this story. It flowed smoothly throughout and plus the character's chemistry felt realistic. Jace and Melissa were a good pair and I enjoyed their playfulness and interactions with one another. It didn't feel forced which I always appreciate. Overall, this was an enjoyable paranormal romance I quickly devoured in one sitting.
Kate (Jace's sister) and Stephen (Jace's best friend) were also an interesting pair who made appearances in this story. From the glimpses that I got, I can say that I am definitely looking forward to reading their story in Taming His Mate! I've already pre-ordered it :)
Sons of mothers, she was tingling in places she shouldn't be tingling. Why, by all that was holy in this world, did Jace Matthews have to be gay?
Things move pretty quickly since these two have gotten to know each other as he shopped in her bookstore over a the weeks--yep she owns a bookstore! Yay! And wears glasses. Total heroine love. There's not too much getting to know them but what's there was likable. He's a little alpha. She's a little feisty. And they're cute together as he talks her into a double date (where she thinks she's being his beard in front of his sister).
There's a little danger added in and some yummy sex scenes and some sweetness too. I do wish it had been a little longer but that's usually the case with novellas and me. All in all, it was a tasty little para treat.
Like M. Limoges does so well, she had me laughing within the first few pages with her quirky sense of humor (Haha, that first scene is the best with the `book' ...too funny).
M. Limoges keeps the language pretty damn clean, but not the sex. It's hot with a shifter wolf that needs to claim his mate. There isn't much downtime in this novella as the story is driven forward with suspense and the love story between Jace and Michelle.
A wonderful read.
Winter Secrets: Naming His Mate (Black Hills Wolves Book 17)
Author: M. Limoges
Genre: Paranormal: Werewolves
Small-town sheriff, Mike Hadley, would love to experience a headache-free day for once in his life. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen anytime soon. While investigating a rash of disappearances and dealing with his ornery lover, he’s thrown into a whole new world he never imagined existed.
Damien Marks has finally found a place to call home in Los Lobos, South Dakota, with the Black Hills Pack. He also stumbles across something he never thought he would—his mate. Falling hard, he decides he needs to come clean and tell the truth. But will his sexy lover accept what he is?
Embroiled in a potentially dangerous situation, both men have to decide where their loyalties lie—with duty or love?
I've only begun to delve into the series created by Decadent Publishing. And because I enjoyed the first book of Limoges' (See my review: Winter Secrets: Winter Solstice Run #3 (Black Hills Wolves, Book 33), I was certain I'd enjoy another by the same author. She didn't disappoint.
Without fully knowing the background in the series, I never felt out of place or left wondering what the heck was going on. From the first page, I read as if I were there in the story. When reading novellas, oftentimes I'm left feeling the story was too short, characters not fully created, or scenes jumping too fast.
Not the case with Naming His Mate. I should also add: This is the first M/M book I've read and reviewed. While I can't say I'm wild about this genre, I can give the Ms. Limoges high marks for a well-written story.
Great action and warm love scenes, crafted by a highly skilled, professional author.
