Half-succubus, Ava, is determined to capture panty-meltingly sexy and handsome shifter Killian Reid. Ava is sure Killian kidnapped her sister, Shia and if he didn't, he has information that will lead to Ava being able to find and rescue her. After tracking Killian for days and admiring him from afar, Ava is unprepared for Killian up close and personal and all she could think was she wanted to know him more intimately.
Killian knew Ava had been tracking him and he had suspicions why. Because she'd been able to keep up with him made Killian admire her tracking skills but he wasn't prepared for his reaction to her when they finally met face to face. During their spectacular meeting and reason to bond, Killian has Ava half convinced of why he was her target and why she was chosen.
The pair has to work together to solve the mysteries circling Ava's mind, prove Killian's version of the truth (or not), stop the bounty hunters on their tail, confirm the villain and rescue Shia. A sense of a maniacal villain lurked on the pages and when the villain and requisite henchmen were revealed a delicious battle ensued.
As the villain described the not so very intricate plot, it was easy it believe there were villainous cackles going on. Killian and Ava had astronomically great chemistry and a brilliant power alpha couple and insta-love was a foregone conclusion but helped make the ride fun nonetheless.
What didn't work well for this reader was the feeling of coming in the middle of the book though that issue was resolved quickly. Also the read itself was too short, I wanted more. After the villain was revealed, there seemed to be a rush to the end of the story. While things were neatly tied off, room was left to build a series with this novella as enough was shared for a few more installments.
This reader was invested from the first page Ava was a great take no prisoners heroine and was fully developed when she was introduced. As for Killian the only words is say is my mate has a new name. Now if I can just get him to answer to it!
It was a quick read that was jam packed with action, a little bit of comedy and some steamy love scenes. Killian is smoking hot, and I can picture him with such clarity. The author did a fantastic job with the physical description not too wordy but just enough to get an idea.
I have a little confused at times I didn’t quite get WHY Amelia was the way she was, she was a central character in the book, and her story was kind of mystery to me. With Ava, she seemed to be fragile yet strong. At times, she would be totally ok with killing to eat and at others she was extremely upset with that aspect of herself, so that was a bit difficult at times.
I would recommend this book if you are looking for a quick but satisfying paranormal read!
*I anARC in exchange for an honest review!
Claiming the Succubus was well written with good character development. The story was intense and had its twists. Romance and and good fight scenes filled the appropriate spots. I enjoyed reading about Ava and how she had to uncover the truth to let herself open up for love. Trust, betrayal and so much more fill this book. If you enjoy a good suspense with romance and fantasy this is a great book for you! I would highly recommend this book!
