It transpires that there were whole aspects of Paul's life that she simply did not know about. The appearance of Alison, an art student played by Anna Magaret Hollyman who seems to know more about who the real Paul was and who collaborated with him on conceptual art installations adds to Claire's confusion and uncertainty. She now has to face not only a loss in a physical and emotional sense but also must now question her before settled belief systems.
This may appear slow paced to some but I found this compelling and raised many profound questions as to what we really know about ourselves and others. The ambiguous ending was resonate of many a European art house film. If nothing else this will certainly initiate a debate among the deep thinking viewer.
