About the Author
RC Boldt is the wife of Mr. Boldt, a retired Navy Chief, mother of Little Miss Boldt, and former teacher of many students. She currently lives on the southeastern coast of North Carolina, enjoys long walks on the beach, running, reading, people watching, and singing karaoke. If you're in the mood for some killer homemade mojitos, can't recall the lyrics to a particular 80's song, or just need to hang around a nonconformist who will do almost anything for a laugh, she's your girl.

Maggie's way of having this internal monologue of describing what she is thinking made me definitely draw the Sex and The City references, some people aren't a fan of this writing method but if its done well (which in this book its like a master class on how to do it right!) It makes for an interesting story element. . . Let's face it we all know we think things and not say them (me, maybe not as much as others but meh people tell me I have no filter and i'm fine with that) but to see the thought process of a character that is as quirky and unapologetically original as Maggie is amazing.
Ryland (Ry) is equally as adorable as Maggie and I was rooting for him thr entire book, I mean he seriously went to bat and committed to this ruse just to get to know the woman he had a inkling could change his life. It was pretty adorable! Now he had his moments to where you want to scream at him Ry! Stop being such a guy! Haha but he totally sees the light.
I thought this was a solid rom-com and perfect for fans of Big Rock By Lauren Blakely or Wasted Words By Staci Hart.
Sunday. To be exact. I read a book on Sunday. I started it AND finished it on Sunday. Not because I didn't have anything else to do, because let's be honest I did- laundry, supper, parenting, cleaning, showering.
But I read a book instead.
The blurb pulled me in. I had to have it! I NEEDED TO START IT!
The hilarity that ensued had my husband giving me strange looks while bouts of laughter rung out.
The ever engrossing plot had me completely ignoring my children. Missing dinner, and hurrying bedtime.
Don't forget the part where my dear old pal made me cry. I don't mind crying..I love engaging with characters that pull raw and vulnerable feelings out of me, where I swear I'm sitting right beside them experiencing everything they are.
But I didn't expect it in a comedy lady! My heart, the feels, the lengths of devotion, and clam jamming our sexy as Ryland goes to, to win over sweet Mags.
My favorite Boldt novel yet!
When Maggie comes home one day early and finds her fiancé with another woman, she kicks him out and then finds herself needing a new roommate to help with the rent. In her mind the ideal roommate is a gay man.
Ry really wants to rent the room in Maggie’s apartment but just when it looks like she’s going to deny him, he tells her he’s gay.
That begins the story of their relationship. He keeps digging a deeper and deeper hole for himself, wanting her and yet unable to have her. It’s funny, sweet, romantic and sexy. I loved Maggie’s best friend Sarah and Ry’s friend Jack. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable book that I couldn’t put down.
I am also a sucker for any kind of roommate romance. This was the best of both worlds because it became a roommate and friends to lovers romance.
I also love a slower build that has some scenes that were oh so very hot. Foreplay and just making out is not done as well by some authors and that was super fun to read by this author because they nailed it. This was so fun to read as well as couldn't wait to see how the characters would get together next. Sigh. Wish I could re-live this journey of these two characters again.
In addition to laughter and very well written sexy scenes, I was surprised to find a very touching love story. Suspending disbelief about the improbable fake-gay-roommate premise, I absolutely loved the relationship between the main characters. I'm tired of ridiculous pseudo-romance novels in which the characters detest each other one minute and rip their clothes off the next. No thanks. Love is supposed to be easy and feel good, not feel like war and agony.
I was also impressed by the characters depth, which took some time to emerge, but eventually did.
I'm a very picky reader and that's the main reason why I gave it four stars instead of five, but this book stole my heart. My favorite love story is that in which a man and a woman not only have great chemistry in bed, but are also best friends. That's what I found in this book and loved it.
I have read many of R.C. Boldt's books and I read what she writes because of her characters. She writes characters that you want to be friends with. You will think about them long after you finish reading.
Wether enjoying a white sangria or a movie and pajama night you will meat two friends that want more.
