The Clarisonic Difference
#1 US Dermatologist Recommended
Clarisonic invented sonic skin cleansing in 2004 and uses patented oscillation technology to flush pores with water for surface and deep pore cleansing. Clarisonic delivers infinitely better skin, cleansing skin 6x better than hands alone. Gentle enough for twice-a-day use, Clarisonic devices are the #1 most recommended skin cleansing devices by US dermatologists.*
*Based on a 2016 survey of 424 U.S. dermatologists who recommend cleansing devices.
Gentle Enough for Sensitive Skin
Our devices are dermatologist tested for gentleness and suitable for sensitive skin types. Clarisonic does not disrupt the skin barrier like strong exfoliants, therefore they are safe to use twice daily.
Runs All Clarisonic Brush Heads and Applicators
Clarisonic brush heads have been specifically designed to cleanse with our devices to combat different concerns such as acne, dullness, dryness, and combination skin. Mia Smart is compatible with all Clarisonic brush heads,Clarisonic make-up brush, and Clarisonic applicators.
We Do Not Spin!
Spinning and rotating brushes can twist and tug on delicate skin. Our gentle back and forth movement paired with water, creates a vacuum effect to remove dirt, oil and makeup from the skin’s surface and pores.
Use in the Shower or Bath
Mia Smart is waterproof! Take Clarisonic into your shower or bath tub to get the most out of your cleansing routine.
100 Minutes of Use Per Charge

Customize Your Skin Care Routine
Pair your Mia Smart with the Clarisonic app to track achievements, customize your routine, get reminders or shop other recommended products that complement your device. It’s also helpful for how-to videos and articles on the benefits of each brush head.
Know When to Replace Brush Head

Unfortunately, this Clarisonic brush has many flaws and the one I received does not even work. As per the instructions, I charged this for 18 hours. I then installed the software. It required setting up an account and then registering the product. The registration failed because it asks for a lot code (which it says is on the handle); however, there is no lot code on my handle anywhere. I had to skip the registration. I then turned on Bluetooth and tried to pair the app with the Clarisonic. Although, it paired automatically in my Bluetooth "app," the Calrisonic app kept saying it did not pair. I tried numerous times to get this to work and failed.
Next, I tried to operate the brush without using any of the "Smart features." The brush does not rotate when the power is on. That is useless. I tried numerous times to re-seat the brush head and had no luck. I then took a look at the well where the head sits and turned on the unit without the head. I would assume the part inside needs to spin but it did not.
- The brush head does not spin. Even though the instructions do not say this, this type of brush should spin--what's the point of power then.
- The instructions are useless. In fact, there are 26 pages and only three are in English that provide cautions and warnings like do not use where it can fall into a bathtub, etc. There is only one line of instructions that is useful and that is to charge the brush for 18 hours for 60 minutes of use time. Everything else is either an FCC statement or DO NOT do this or DO NOT do that. The first page that has a diagram of the product is useful also but does not help the user to get to know the product much more than what part is what.
- The brush head is so top heavy that it repeatedly falls over at the slightest touch when seated in the charging base even if it is on a flat surface.
- This only comes with one soft brush head. The different types of heads they sell should be included.
- No power cord is provided. Yes there is a charging base, but it has a USB connection. That is not much of a problem in today's society, but at this price; a regular outlet plug should be standard or at least a separate USB wall charger should be part of the package.
There are no positives--nothing works the way it is supposed to.
At any price this is garbage and that is where it is heading.
UPDATE: Clarisonic sent me an email and said "The Clarisonic brush head does not rotate or spin. The inside brush head bristles oscillate in either direction. The oscillation is so fast it looks like a blur. The outside rows of bristles remain still."
Even though I did not say it in my review above, I did try the brush on my face with it oscillating. It did not oscillate much at all and did absolutely nothing to spread the soap on my face. I also tried rotating it myself by using a scrubbing motion and that also did not help because the bristles were too soft. I already threw this out today as this brush is useless to me. My LumaRx Facial cleaning brush is ten times better.
Oh well. Goodbye Clarisonic.
I wish I paid closer attention to these reviews.
Returning everything, including the extra brushes that I mistakenly purchased along with it.
Like: Sassy color. Mine is called Mint.
Dislike: Representation for what the device I ordered would be capable of doing.
Dislike: The manufacturer’s instructions.
Dislike: The ability to register this product. This new device does not seem to be on the radar. My color “mint” and is not an option.
Dislike: The protective brush cap. Snags the brush bristles and damages them.
Dislike: Seems you have to be “App Conected” to get “maximum” benefit from this brush.
The "Clarisonic Mia Smart Sonic Cleansing Face Brush, White" is heavier than other models – 7 1/8 oz. including the brush head - and is not as easy to hold. The grip seems short when compared to my Clarisonic Smart Profile. Further the location of the on-off ring results in my turning the Mia Smart off or changing the speed.
The “Mia Smart” charges using a USB-style cord; the initial charge took about 18-hours. However, Clarisonic did not include an electrical plug with this model. While most individuals have a plug that can be used with a USB, there are individuals who do not. I view the lack of a plug as Clarisonic “cheaping out”.
The “Mia Smart” has a blue ring that flashes while the unit is charging and goes solid – if the unit sits on the charging stand between uses – when fully charged. This light is very, very bright.
The brush head included with this unit is extremely soft; you may prefer some of the firmer brush heads that Clarisonic has available. You can usually get gift packs around the holiday season for a better price than if you purchase individual brush heads.
Only the center rings of the “Mia Smart oscillate during the cleansing process. These measure 1” in diameter, so you do not get a large amount of cleansing surface. As with other models, you will also love that your skin will be cleaner and less prone to break-outs or clogged pores. I use Johnson's Baby Wash with my Clarisonics and have had no issues with clogging or mechanical problems.
The Bluetooth pairing was not easy to do and was, in my opinion, a gimmick that was being used to entice those who are wedded to apps and their smart phones.
If you have always wanted a Clarisonic or are looking for a quality facial cleansing brush, I recommend the Clarisonic Mia Prima, the Clarisonic Smart Profile or the Mia Fit!

Fine, but how exactly do you actually use the thing? It doesn't explain which directions to cleanse, how long to cleanse, how much pressure, how frequently, how much water or cleanser to use, etc. It doesn't explain which brush head is best for your skin, or anything about the other brush heads (which can be purchased separately).
It also doesn't explain about this plastic ring-tab thing that is on the backside of the brush. Mine promptly fell out. Is that normal? Do I need it? It this ring-tab thing important? Will the device work without it? Who knows!
Oh, but the device comes with an app. Not everyone has a smart phone and not everyone who has a smart phone needs an app to do the simplest of tasks. The app does show routines, but is not very detailed. The app supposedly will tell me when to change the brush-head and provides a timer for cleansing each day. Okay that's somewhat helpful, but is it really necessary to put this on a phone app?
To find out more about the Mia Smart, you have to spend some time reading other reviews and perusing Clarisonic's website looking for valid info. There is some helpful information on the website, but it doesn't cover everything. There is no mention of this ring-tab thingy. I also phoned their customer service and I found out a few more details, but not everything I inquired about.
On a positive note, the charge lasts for up to 100 minutes. Some reviewers complain about using USB to charge. Since I don't have to recharge every day or so, it's easy enough to use a USB-outlet converter and recharge every couple of months.
As for my skin, there is no doubt, it definitely cleans better than by hand. My skin sometimes seems irritated, which is somewhat normal for new users, or, perhaps it's because I'm not using the device correctly. I can't say for sure.
Clarisonic is owned by L'Oreal. It's surprising and disappointing that a huge corporation like that does not include general instructions with their product. But hey, I now know how to say dishwasher in several other languages!
The old version I had came with a good quality charger and build-in plug. But now I got only the usb cable even without a plug. The charger base is nothing like before. It is made by poor and light plastic. The cable is also too cheap and too thin that I even thought for one minute that maybe I got a fake one. I feel so sorry to Clarinsonic for how their product quality falls.
I thought it is a only case for me, but now I see a lot of comments from buyers in July 2019 are also mentioning the charging problems. I am sure it is quality defects for either all smart Mia or for the batch of product sold in July. I hope I could get a good solution from their after sales service……
