Hammock Specifications: 2 lbs 15 oz / 1.34 kg; Comfort/Safety Weight Limit: 300 lbs. / 136 kg (best for people under 6'9" (2.1m) in height); Made in USA from American fabrics; The Clark NX-270 is a four-season hammock and the most versatile tent ever built. Whether you are expecting six feet of snow or tropical conditions, the NX-270 will serve you well. Every NX-270 comes with a combination of features you'll find nowhere else: First, the breathable WeatherShield layer zips over the No-See-Um mosquito netting to transform the hammock into an enclosed tent, providing warmth, a wind break, or extra protection from rain and snow. Second, the insulating pocket system keeps you warmer in cold weather, removing the need for insulating pads on warmer camps. These pockets are accessible by zippers on the interior of the hammock. The NX-270's insulating pockets double as storage space for your gear. These six pockets are located underneath the hammock where you may store your boots and other gear during the night. Two more pockets are located inside the hammock, handy for storing anything from a flashlight to a pistol. The NX-270's ropes are water-repelling polypropylene (1700 lb. test). I think this is a very durable quality product and will last a very long time. There wasn't a single flaw in the stitching or material anywhere. If I could change anything about it it would be the mosquito netting and the top could be removable. That would save a little weight in summer months when all you need is the fly. As far as weight goes even with the underquilt it's still lighter then any other winter set up ive used. I've thru hiked the Appalachian trail and many other section hikes. I use my gear regularly and in all kinds of weather. I'm not easily impressed. But I am with this product and will recommend it to everybody. Thanks for a great hammock!
There are a few things that I do not like, When laying in the hammock it is difficult or impossible to zip the cover and bug net across the center line of the hammock. In that situation it unzips just fine, and I have had to get out of the hammock just to zip it back fully. My solution is to not unzip across the center line before I get in. Other hammocks can be used as a quick seat, that is a really tough with this model. I don't want to use it like that so it is not a problem for me.
UPDATE - I spent the night in this at 25-28 degrees. There was an extremely hard frost on the windshield in the morning. I loaded the under pockets, had a 0 degree bag, and folded the corners of the fly down like I was shielding from a rain storm. I also hung it about 8-12 inches from the ground. I slept very well and didn't have any CBS. It was tough to get out and start the day but I will not hesitate to use this down to 10-15 degrees in the same setup.
