One note of caution...These shoes are not for wet conditions. Not even a light drizzle with an umbrella. 1. The soles do wick moisture up from the street and will get your feet wet. 2. They are extremely slippery on wet anything and this gets worse as the sole wears. You really have to be aware of this with these shoes and take extreme caution when walking across wet floors etc. It is sad that the shoes cannot be resoled. After two years of almost daily wear, I wore the bottom of my black pair paper thin. The uppers still look perfect. it's going to hurt to throw them out. I take these issues as tradeoffs for the ultra-lightweight design and I'm ok with it.
These shoes are worth buying even if you only use them for flying. They are super easy to get off and on in the security line. If you are lucky enough to be flying in a country not subject to the TSA's nonsense, you can walk right through a metal detector with no problem as there seems to be no metal at all in the shoes construction. Also, the elastic panels help the shoes expand with your feet on long haul flights.
If I had to knock one thing about the shoe, and it's clearly not enough to keep me from buying them, it's the softness of the soles. After about a year, the heels are wearing thin. It just so happens that shoes like this are looking a little tired anyway around the one year point, so less sole durability isn't really an issue.
Not impressed. The sole was completely foam instead of having rubber wearing surface pads. The main reason I'm in the market for a new shoe is the fact that the rubber finally wore through on mine. Had there only been foam (like these), their useful life would have been greatly diminished.
The shoe was also much smaller fit for the same size Clarks shoes i've been wearing for years.
After trying them for a little bit to see if they would stretch out, I finally just decided to return them as they were actually starting to hurt my feet and did not support them as my old shoes had. The great return policy is what made me go for them in the first place and I was very glad they were so easy to deal with. I did not order the next size up due to the physical construction differences/issues.
This pair is notably narrower through the heel and difficult to take on and off. I have to sit down to wrestle them on and off. I compared them with a pair of the identical labeled shoe I was replacing. The new one's heel is 1/4 to 3/8 inch narrower than my current shoe. They are wearable, but I probably won't very often, certainly not for travel.
