after several pairs of CDB over two decades, this is the best version so far with superb burgundy Horween leather. Sizing is typically British, which means between half to full size down from American. Leather takes a short while to break in, unlike suede, but will probably be more durable in winter rain etc.
I live in the high Desert of Western Colorado, these Clarks were meant for a land like this. The ground here is soft silky dirt & sand stone. Tons of Russian thistle and miles of cheatgrass. In the summer there is a dry heat.
Clarks Desert Boots without socks is "THE" way to go. Quiet if your hunting, high enough to keep the soft dirt out, wonderful on (dry) rock. When worn without socks the cheatgrass seeds fall into the boot and must be dumped out from time to time. Socks catch the cheatgrass seeds by the thousands & hold their sharp points scraping on your ankle. Taller boots are too hot for summers in the high desert.
