Quality seems good - the leather is evenly pebbled with no blemishes, the stitching is tight, well-aligned and seems sturdy, the welt is double-stitched and there is no excess glue on the sides of the soles. The eyelets are metal. The sole is definitely softer than a Vibram hiking boot sole, which contributes to the comfort but will mean faster wear over time.
For the price (slightly over $100), I think these are a good value in a casual boot. They are no substitute for proper hiking or work boots, of course, but they aren't meant to be. I liked these enough that I ordered another pair in a different color.
It is very comfortable. You can wear with jeans or dress it up with better slacks.
It is a boot and a little bulkier than a shoe. Just saying.
I love Clark shoes and was not disappointed. Great craftsmanship.
Unfortunately, the coating on these boots wear of really easily from street salt, and I don't think mine will ever recover. Just remember to wipe your boots down if this happens.
The one unfortunate quality of these shoes are that its rubber bottom makes walking a little dangerous since it's really easy to slip and fall. Most of the times it's pretty solid, but on certain surfaces (like smooth brick) it gets difficult.
*** Update January 2015 ***
The leather didn't last looking good for too long. Unfortunately, after a couple of occasions in which they got a bit wet with rain, along with regular use (2 or 3 times a week), it began losing its coloration and feeling kinda rough to the touch. In a couple of months these boots started to look as if heavily used for years! I tried with some products to make them look better, but their effect vanished after a few days. I decided to buy a new pair of real leather chukkas instead of continuing spending money in products to hide this product's early decay.
***I can wear them all day, but only because I put in some inserts to take up some space and add a bit of padding. They aren't uncomfortable, but the sole is thin and thinly padded, and there isn't much arch support to speak of.***
