These boots are very comfortable right out of the box. There is a slight "rock" molded into the sole and the leather upper is flexible, so no real break-in is needed. The footbed is perfectly flat with a padded insole; if you need arch support (as I do), you'll need to add a thin arch support insert. Fortunately, the boot is roomy enough to accommodate that. The boot is comfortably wide across the toes, but not sloppy, and can be laced up snugly to hold your heel in place without slipping. The inside of the boot is fabric lined but, fortunately, there is a split-leather heel cup to protect the liner from wear.

Quality seems good - the leather is evenly pebbled with no blemishes, the stitching is tight, well-aligned and seems sturdy, the welt is double-stitched and there is no excess glue on the sides of the soles. The eyelets are metal. The sole is definitely softer than a Vibram hiking boot sole, which contributes to the comfort but will mean faster wear over time.

For the price (slightly over $100), I think these are a good value in a casual boot. They are no substitute for proper hiking or work boots, of course, but they aren't meant to be. I liked these enough that I ordered another pair in a different color.

This is my first pair of Clark's, and I love them. They were pretty stiff at first but broke in after just an hour of normal use. I ordered a 1/2 size smaller, and they still fit a little bigger than usual, but I think going a full size lower would be too small. The reason for a 4/5 rating is that they are more difficult than most shoes to get on and off in addition to the size issue. There is also really no arch support, but the sole is very cushy and comfy which I didn't realize until wearing them with normal socks rather than thick wool ones. Finally, the sole is pretty anti-slip in my opinion. Overall I would definitely recommend these shoes.

I have been looking at this boot for several weeks. This is my first shoe-boot purchase on line. Reviews indicated the boot ran large. I ordered the boot one half size smaller than I normally wear. It fit perfectly.
It is very comfortable. You can wear with jeans or dress it up with better slacks.
It is a boot and a little bulkier than a shoe. Just saying.
I love Clark shoes and was not disappointed. Great craftsmanship.

Paint them red. Buy a wig. Get a honking nose. Open weekend business for side gig. These things are big and goofy. Can't see how anyone would think they are stylish. They run way too big. Go small or feel like they are flopping in the breeze every time you step. Honk honk.

These were some comfy-ass boots. Fits pretty much perfect, especially for people with a bit wider feet like me, and works really well against water and the cold.

Unfortunately, the coating on these boots wear of really easily from street salt, and I don't think mine will ever recover. Just remember to wipe your boots down if this happens.

The one unfortunate quality of these shoes are that its rubber bottom makes walking a little dangerous since it's really easy to slip and fall. Most of the times it's pretty solid, but on certain surfaces (like smooth brick) it gets difficult.

An excellent boot! The quality of the materials and the workmanship are impeccable! This was my first pair of Clarks shoes, but it won't be my last. I am definitely impressed with their attention to detail.

Product quality is excellent, these boots are very comfortable. I normally use insoles in all my shoes (I always purchase my shoes ½ size larger for the insole to fit fine) and I didn't have any issues with that here. Plus, they look awesome, a great match for both jeans and slacks.

    *** Update January 2015 ***
The leather didn't last looking good for too long. Unfortunately, after a couple of occasions in which they got a bit wet with rain, along with regular use (2 or 3 times a week), it began losing its coloration and feeling kinda rough to the touch. In a couple of months these boots started to look as if heavily used for years! I tried with some products to make them look better, but their effect vanished after a few days. I decided to buy a new pair of real leather chukkas instead of continuing spending money in products to hide this product's early decay.

I love the style of these boots, but they run big. I sold shoes for 2 years, and I know I'm a true 12.5D, but those are hard to find. I ordered a 13 to be safe, and I probably could have gone with a 12 and still had some wiggle room. My biggest complaint is that the sole is wearing down surprisingly quick. I wear them every workday for about 6 hours, except some Fridays, and I take them off when I get home. I don't walk much, or spend my whole workday on my feet, so I don't think I'm putting them through excessive use. Still, the style is great.

***I can wear them all day, but only because I put in some inserts to take up some space and add a bit of padding. They aren't uncomfortable, but the sole is thin and thinly padded, and there isn't much arch support to speak of.***
