This is a great DVD. It catches Classic SAXON just in the process of changing into the modern line-up. Biff is there, as well as Paul Quinn, "Nibbs" Carter who is new on the bass in this video, Graham Oliver ( who subsequently left the band ) and Nigel Glockler, who is indeed a legendary drummer.
It's not the video or audio quality of some of the recent, pristine quality concert DVD's I've seen lately, but it is very good nonetheless.
Particularly rousing was this rendition of "And The Bands Played On."
If you're a fan of SAXON, you'll wanna pick up this DVD. Especially if you can get it used for around $9.00.

Believe this nine song,50 minute concert captured on DVD is the very same title that was released on VHS on the U.S. Griffin label ten years ago. Still, I was very pleased to purchase it at such a reasonable price on DVD. Great picture and sound quality. Concert was taped for a French TV show in 1990. Tunes I thought made this music DVD a keeper are "I've Bin Stoned Before", the dramatic "Pot Head Pixies" (with the stage extras, running around - thus creating a mystical-like land of mutated acidic creatures), "Outer Vision" (superb woodwind playing, there Malherbe), "Flying Teacup" and the nine-minute "I Am You" where Daevid Allen walks around in the crowd for awhile. Just a fun gig to watch. The line-up includes Daevid Allen, space whisper Goddess Gilli Smyth (in fine form, I must say), Didier Malherbe, drummer Pip Pyle(R.I.P.), Keith 'The Missle' on bass and Twinko Electron on keyboards. Timeless cosmic rock that warms the heart, soul and frazzles the brain. Highly recommended.

First off.Service was excellent! DVD came on time .And this has been a hard dvd to track down.Took me 2 years to find it at this price. Now,music is subjective, everybody has there own likes, etc. My personal picks are all the Montrose and Trower songs. Both guys were first class.Video very clear, sound very clear.I would recommend this one because for Montrose fans, this was very cleanly shot,Trower.Well worth getting, depending on who you like guitar wise. The other guitarists on this are all good, but again, its just who youre into.I could do with a whole dvd of just Montrose,or Trower, when its done this well.

If you're a Strawbs fan, you already own this dvd. Nuff said.
That said, the Strawbs are the best unknown "English Progressive" band of the seventies (aka, the Strawberry Hill Boys in the 1960's). Of course, the Strawbs never stood a chance, even in the wake of "progressive" bands such as Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Jethro Tull, and Yes (each of whom "The New York Times" despised back in the early '70's).
Because rock critcs took as a given self-evident gospel truth that the wellspring of Rock and Roll was the Blues, choirboy music never stood a chance in America. And so Dave Cousins, folkie choirboy lover of orchestral rock and instrumental virtuosity, was just rendered irrelevant for one reason or another - too "intense", too "conceptual", too British? Too good, I'd say.
The only song of the Strawbs I remember on the radio was "Lay Down" from September, 1977, which hooked me; it was the best song being aired at the time (though I suspect I heard "Part of the Union" at some point prior to that). But with Disco and the Eagles and the New Wave/Punk thing just around the corner, where were the Strawbs going to find a place? Alas.
And just as Ian Anderson has been making incredible music for 30 plus years without a word of mainstream "critical" praise, just so Dave Cousins is anonymous here in the USofA. Go figure.
The fact that this is "out of print" says it all.

The DVD of Caravan live that I ordered from Classic Rock Productions came in the mail today. As I suspected/hoped, it's the 1990 Bedrock TV production (released on CD in 1993 by Demon/Code 90), which was a very high budget affair -- 6 or 7 cameras (including a couple on booms), 24-track recording, huge stage, absolutely fabulous sound, and overall a great show. It was broadcast once in England (at like 3:30 am!) and then locked away in a vault for 13 years.
For some reason two short tracks on the Code 90 CD are NOT included in the DVD, "If I Could Do It All Over Again" and "In The Land of Grey and Pink" which is a shame, but what's here is great quality stuff. The CD has been a perpetual favourite of mine for the past decade & change so I'm happy to add the visuals accompanying it to my collection.

I have 3 of these Rock Legends dvds. This is one of the best.
If your a Purple or Gillan fan just get it. I agree with some
of the other comments but it's just looking for something.
I'm happy to get any dvd video of my favorites from the 70's
and 80's and I have many rare bootlegs. The songs selection is
short but good. The band are all excellent musicians while not
the most exciting they play great and Gillan is in top form.
The song I thought no and version of Blind Man is worth the
price. These were shot for dvd video release not really true
concert situation but I don't think fans of Gillan would mind.
Great show. oh get Uriah Heep and Saxon Legends dvd's! awesome!

It is great now to have the DVD version of this video. I would like to eventually obtain the DVD version of the Night of the Guitar I (Parts 1 and 2).

Rick Derringer
Laurie Wisefield:74年の『There's The Rub』から“Wishbone Ash”に参加。Andy Powelとのツインギターが胸に染みました。本作でも日本人好みの泣きのソロを存分に聴かせてくれます。この人ブルースもロックンロールも驚きの上手さ!何より昔と全く変わらぬ体型で二度驚かされます。
Robin Trower:“PROCOL HALM”脱退後、81年にCREAMのJack Bruce、Sly & The Family StoneのBill Lordanと三人の頭文字をとった『BLT』(安直!)
