Flaws/potential nuances
1) My Antec Kuhler H2O 620 Liquid CPU Cooler System did fit this case, but it blocked a fan slot, no matter where I decided to place the liquid cooler's radiator.
2) The open ventilated style can be double edged, leaving the case vulnerable to dust and hair when not in use. I suggest using a cover when your computer is not in use. There are many holes on the top, back, and front panel.
3) The front panels can pop off very easily. If you are not using any of the front panel slots, even a light tap will pop the front panel cover out of place.
4) the top of the case has a flex. The metal isn't quite solid and can dip in.
5) As other reviewers mentioned, if you place a normal 5.25 inch DVD drive on the top, it will block the 120mm fan slot on the top of the case.
Onto some more details:
DESIGN
- 5 slots for 120mm fans. The case already comes with two very quiet fans.
- Love the hard drive slots that face the window side. Easy access.
- On the back there are two holes to support any liquid cooling tubes
- Window let's you show off and see your computer's internal peripherals
- It's standard now, but it's still worthy to point out that the power supply is on the lower half of the case.
- Case comes with many bolts so you can mount dvd drives, hard drives, etc.
The m59 has a very open design. The mid tower has enough space for any high end graphics card, as well as large cpu heat sinks and liquid cooling systems. The main positive about the design is how user friendly it is. The placement of the hard drive slots and power button & USB slots simply makes sense.
Again, the reason why I gave it 4 stars was because of the oddity of not being able to use the 120mm fan slot if you place a 5.25 inch DVD drive/front panel on the top panel. I went around this problem and just placed the DVD drive on panel lower.
STYLE
- Blue LED power button, Blue LED lining around the top of the front panel, outlining where the top DVD drive would go.
- Glass window gives it a nice touch.
- The front panel is in a jagged, up and down fashion.
The m59 looks gorgeous and the Blue LED lights add a lot to its look. It's not intrusive and shouldn't bother you or anyone close by.
The NZXT m59 is a good all around mid tower case. The m59 is tipping towards a premium mid tower case. It already has a great design and look. The build quality can definitely be improved. I'm nitpicking though. For the price, it's an excellent purchase especially with the ventilated design, good internal design, and glass window.
Here is my system information:
Case : NZXT M59
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
CPU : Intel Core i5-2500
GPU : EVGA GeForce GTX 580
Case fans: 2 120mm NZXT fans (included with M59), 2 140mm rifle bearing NZXT fans ($7.99 ea @ Amazon)
Notes:
1) Front case fan : Contrary to other posts, I found installing the front fan very straight forward. Carefully pull off the front panel and use the longer fan screws provided with the NZXT case to mount the fan.
2) Corsair CPU cooler warning : I strongly recommend against trying to use a Corsair CPU cooler with this case. I bought the H60 and it simply doesn't fit the case. I found other posts that recommended cutting the case. I couldn't bring myself to "modding" my brand new case, so I opted to return the CPU cooler - turns out 4 case fans were plenty to keep my system cool.
3) PSU fan orientation : I mounted the Corsair cX600 PSU with the fan facing in. To my surprise there was very little agreement on whether the fan should face down, pulling cool air from outside the case, or up, venting warm air out of the case. I opted for mounting it up because my system sits on carpet and I didn't want to pull in carpet fibers and dust into the case. I would have mounted the fan facing down if my machine was on a hard surface.
4) Case fans : The NZXT is designed to vent from front to back and from bottom/side to top. I used 4 NZXT fans. The case came with 2 120mm NZXT fans, one mounted on the side (intake) and one mounted in the rear (exhaust). I purchased 2 140mm rifle bearing NZXT fans from Amazon and mounted them to vent air out the top of the case. I then moved the preinstalled 120mm NZXT fan from the rear to the front of the case, changing the direction of the fan to pull cool air into the case. To summarize the case fans: intake - 120mm NZXT fans mounted on the side and front, exhaust- 2 140mm rifle bearing NZXT fans mounted on the top.
5) Case fan warnings : 1) It is recommended to use rifle bearing fans when venting air from the top. Sleeve bearing fans are not designed for horizontal mounting and will become noisy and wear out early. 2) The M59 will accommodate 140mm or 120mm fans, however the 140mm fans can only be mounted on the top, they will not fit on the side, front, or rear.
6) Top fan mount/ top external drive bay contention. The top external drive bay interferes with the front top fan mount. As a result, I was unable to mount a DVD drive in the top bay. In my situation this was a minor inconvenience.
Top reviews from other countries
great design for air flow comes with and NZXT plain fan and a NZXT Blue LED fan both 120mm.
The case has been designed really well for fantastic cable management... my case has never looked so cable free! its actually stupid how well you can hide it all.
I have noticed a few design floors! they should have fully tested the product before selling it! if the case was about a 1cm wider, about 2-3cm longer (depth) and maybe 1-2cm taller... would be great! noticed things like top fan blocking a disk drive at the top from slotting in and thats it really, i just inserted into the second bay instead!
Great product! never been so happy for a case being so well made even with its very small and few implications!
I would certianly reccomend this case to anyone.
