The book starts with Fortress Max. and his group of autobots which later get involved with Grimlock's autobot in the Ark. The issue "Totaled" has to be one of the craziest issues in the series and after everything you read in book 3, you've been dying for it! Has two great characters face off and end off with every autobot fighting to the death!
After that first climax, the issues start trying to establish a return of a past leader and give him a new look. There are some really weird and random issues. Like how book 2 had random issues and the cartoon had random episodes like "Hoist goes to Hollywood", this book has some of these wacky issues but they are still enjoyable
The last 4 issues is the Underbase saga! This story is interesting as it introduced a back story of Cybertron that does not seemed used a lot. The story in general is full of mystery but ends in a giant sized issue 50! Issue 50 has to be insane. If you thought "Totaled" was crazy then this one will blow you away. It has every transformer battling an unstoppable robot which i will not spoil. Issue 50 is very enjoyable and any TF fan would love it but will all the action movies and shows up to date, this may feel predictable or stale.
Transformers came a long from since they crashed on earth. There was lots of build before but after reading this, it's nice to have 2 climatic issues that you leave speakless. Some issues are just out of place but there are still fun. Any TF fan who gets this book will be entertained if not overjoyed!
it's a great way to discover just what made Transformers so amazing
I would however advice it's reading to either someone who has read the comics at a younger age, or who are, like me, hardcore fans:
indeed the US comics show just how much of a toy merchandising Transformers really is, it's a fun read if you're a fan who wishes to know more of their favourite fandom but I doubt it'd be the same to someone who hasn't have great interest in giant robots from outerspace.
Or to people who do not appreciated the 80's comic style.
Again, great read, very fun and a great way to know more about your favourite heroes...if Transformers ARE your favourite heroes
