Let's Get to know your NEW guitar :)
► Length - This Guitar is a full size guitar. It is 39 inches.
► Materials - we chose High-Quality woods to build the body of your Guitar - Spruce top and Mahogany Back, Sides & Neck! These woods not only looks incredible, they are also great tonewoods.
► The Fingerboard is made out of Walnut. The Walnut is a popular wood used in many musical instruments.
► The neck in this guitar is made of Mahogany.
► TUSQ Nut - The Nut in this Guitar is TUSQ's. In most beginner guitars , the nut is made out of plastic. The nut directly influences the tone and sound of the guitar as it is in direct contact with the strings!
► TUSQ Saddle - The Saddle in this Guitar is TUSQ's. In most beginner guitars , the saddle is made out of plastic. The saddle directly influences the tone and sound of the guitar as it is in direct contact with the strings!
► The Bridge is made out of Walnut, just like the fingerboard that was mentioned earlier.
► Savarez Strings - We installed high quality Savarez Strings - Just tune up to pitch and you're ready to play! Savarez' Strings are very popular and any guitar player would recommend them.
► What is a truss rod?
The term "truss rod" is used to define the steel bar that runs along a guitar's neck.
The adjustment screw is located inside the sound hole, as shown in the image to the left.
Using the Hex Key you get with this purchase, you'll be able to adjust the strings action (The distance between the strings and fingerboard).
Turning the screw clockwise will bring the strings closer to the fingerboard while turning it counter-clockwise will take the strings further away from the fingerboard.

It sounds ok, but does not keep the tune (I had to retune a couple of time while playing, which is bad since I am a beginner and I don't play hard at all). That may settle over time but I may have returned it before that. I just don't appreciate that I am sold something different than what is represented. Regardless of price consideration. If they say that I can have what's on the picture for $115, then they can afford it! So that's what they should send me. Period.
From a mid-50s player of 45+ years.. with some formal classical training, and having owned a plethora of guitars (electric, classical [including handbuilt, solid wood classicals] and some more 'modest' guitars) over the years..
Sound by component qualities:*(with new carbon trebles and a few refinements)
Sustain -- 9/10*
Top-end Response: 7/10
Low-end Response: 8/10
Mids Response: 8/10
Stock, out of the box, it is a fairly 'mid-rangey' sounding guitar. With new strings and
refinements, the top-end can be accentuated making it much brighter with better projection.
Good quality wood/materials (neck, fingerboard, bridge, top [spruce laminate], back/sides [mahogany laminate] etc)
Graphite saddle and nut
Adjustable truss rod
Wish list for future builds:
* A little more attention to frets
* Thinner poly finish would be desirable
Now for a personal testimonial:
I ordered this via Amazon on March 10. It arrived (via UPS) on March 14. I unboxed, tuned it up and began to give it the usual evaluation and setup I would give any new guitar. Everything *seemed* fine at first, but after a full day had passed I noticed that two of the back braces had been cracked and one (the lower bout 'waist') brace was separated from the back for about 50% of it's length (the damage appeared to have been done by shipper -- not the factory). At about this same time, Adam from Hola! instruments sent a customer follow-up email. I replied to Adam and explained about the broken back braces; but at the same time, I told him I liked the guitar and thought I would probably keep it. I told him I could pretty easily glue the braces to the back of the body ok (which I did). For my time and trouble, he was generous enough to send me a new set of D'addario carbon treble strings. He was very responsive to my concerns and acted quickly on them. I highly recommend carbon treble strings on this guitar. They bring out a much brighter and 'cleaner' tone for the e,b,g strings. (I use D'addario set EJ46FF)
I'll be looking for an even better Hola! 2.0 classical guitar in the future. If you're an experienced player and have setup an acoustic guitar previously, you will find this a little gem to work and play on.
Update one year later: STILL LOVE THIS 3/4 gem. Stays in tune quite a long time and I have been using it as my mini practice guitar in music composition almost daily. Whwn I want the full pleasure I use my HOLA 41 in. But Still a lovely toned kick about guitar ya'll!
