These are the same songs that are on his CD, TRIED AND TRUE, but seeing him sing them with his facial expressions adds a lot.
I love ALL of the songs, especially BUILD ME UP BUTTERCUP, MOON RIVER, MISTY, SUSPICIOUS MINDS, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE, WHAT KIND OF FOOL AM I?,CRYING (WITH LINDA EDER), and especially the encore, UNCHAINED MELODY.
The lighting on this DVD is interesting. The Band and backup singers add to the fun. Clay moves around the stage and gives us a few stories. He surprises us with a song by Ruben Stoddard.
If you couldn't get to Raleigh in March to see this concert, this is the next best thing. It is surprising how different songs show different parts of Clay's talent.
I recommennd that you buy this with the extras and the short CD so you can listen to Clay whereever you are. Excellent DVD. I hope he makes one of Broadway songs soon. If you want to get SOLTAIRE, buy Clay's Playlist.
Mack The Knife-Clay puts his own spin on this and you can finally understand all of the words. Nice, jazzy, snappy version with magnificent vocals. Love the final note, it's one of those great glory notes Aiken is famous for.
Misty-Just gorgeous vocals on a classic song for all time. Clay's voice is distinct and there is no question about who is singing. Absolutely beautiful rendition.
Crying-0ne of my all time favorites and I have to say as much as I adored Roy Orbison's original version and his duet with KD Lang, Clay takes us on a different musical journey and it is compelling and very different. Love it and he is accompanied by Linda Eder who is a great talent in her own right.
It's Only Make Believe-Another classic from the great Conway Twitty. Clay does a very different version of the song and it works. This man can sing anything and he really does know how to put his own stamp on his version of things.
Unchained Melody-Clay sang this on American Idol and as he said, he finally has his own version. One of the greatest songs of the era, Clay's version is powerfully sung and just beautiful.
All of the songs are worth hearing over and over again. I think anyone who enjoys these classics will LOVE this. ENJOY!!!
My favorites...Misty...the duet with Linda Eder of Crying...the best version of It's Impossible I've ever heard...You Don't Have to Say you Love Me. Beautiful!
Run do not walk to pick this up!!! absolutely gloriously done and arranged!!! Clays vocals are accompanied by a wonderful band and gives it a great jazzy feel!!! Clay rocks the stage live with his strong outstanding vocals and incredible stage performance! You will be moved by songs like Moon River, Theres a kind of hush, suspicious minds and Clays favorite Unchained melody that will knock you backwards with it's explosive ending! and theres a duet with Linda Eder that will melt your heart. This DVD goes hand in hand with Clays PBS special that is now being shown all across the country!! Check your PBS listings..It's amazing.
The brought the house down at the very beginning with Mack the Knife and held us in his hand all the way through. Unchained Melody is truly a tour de force -- never done better. Love it!
