I like this flux. It is sticky. It works with both lead and lead-free solder (use a bunch for lead-free if you want smooth surface).

Using it for lead-free solder on larger connections I have noticed it browns under the high temperatures. I just clean it off with alcohol afterwards. But that's an extreme case. For normal repair soldering of electronics, especially on circuit boards, I have found it to be perfect. I do usually clean up with alcohol after, but I believe it would be fine without cleanup.

It does what you would think. It is a thicker flux that stays where you put it instead of running around on the board. Sometimes you need a more liquid flux...but this is more handy for me as it stays where I put it. Does have a weird smell, and does liquefy when heated...but all in all it works for my need. As for soldering, use a vent fan.

I used this product on my Chevy cluster to replace my stepper motors and light bulbs as I had a few of each that were out when I bought my truck. I used it for the lights inside my ac controls and all my window and door lock switches as well. Everything on the inside of my truck I didn't want the factory coloring so I tore everything apart and this flux worked out great to help solder connections take. I do plumbing work and its the same thing as soldering copper to copper or copper to brass. A couple different steps but a different kind of flux is used to help the solder take and hold. Same thing with electrical connections. I'm a big believer in using flux and soldering as it helps the solder join to what it's suppose to therefore giving you a stronger bond.

Does help solder flow into stranded wire, but you need to use a liberal (heavy) amount or else it all just evaporates. When you do use enough of this flux to help solder flow, after the heat from the iron is applied, the flux leaves a thick sticky residue after cooling down that is tacky to the touch. As per I tend to clean off flux anyways, but this one was a bit harder to clean up with a c. swab and 90 IPA.

If it isn't stored in a closed container, the product, at the tip, does get more gel-like. It doesn't take much for each solder, so I have barely used any. I expect the tube to last a long time.
