Update 7/2014: Went to use it today and it was dead. Followed instructions carefully. Bought it 2 years 3 months ago. Went back to Home Depot on a chance, and they understandably would not take it back. Looked at all the BS people have reported and decided to go for plan b which was first, bypassing the inline GFI to see if that solved the problem. It did. Seems the cheap import electronics did not like my garage. By the way I used it 2 years ago for about 3 hours and have not used it since. So I am going to buy an inline GFI to connect to the end of the cord and I should be good to go, at least until the next problem comes up.
- hose & cord rewind into machine
- large wheels
- not prone to tip over + can lie horizontally
- metal connectors give smooth tight easy connection
- high pressure hose is flexible, not stiff plastic
- powers off when trigger is released
- tips interchange very easily
-one only: directions are skimpy and in "Chinglish"
The negative reviews I've seen obviously from people who did not read or understand the direction. For ex. one could not fit hose on quick connector because the "filter washer was too thick" was putting the wrong end of the quick connector on the machine. One complained the machine quickly turned off right after starting- it is supposed to do that- pull the trigger and it comes on, let go of the trigger and the power stops.
Sold at Home Depot for $159.
After reading reviews to remedy this I have gone to the Sumec website(the manufacturer) to purchase a replacement. By the model number I have a 2011 but the replacement parts for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 models listed on the site do not match what I have removed. The fitting on my unit is a combination of those listed and therefore a change in their manufacturing but nothing available to purchase. There are also multiple reviews expressing the disappointment with Sumec's customer service and I echo those as even their online chat has no one available. I guess I will see if I can get a custom fitting pressed to fix this issue but when dealing with this company and unit...buyer beware!
I am very thankful that Home Depot took it back. I told Home Depot they should not even carry this pressure washer because so many have problems with it.
I called the company today about the defective hose, and I was told they do not have the part. That I should call back in 23 weeks about purchasing the replacement part. First a company should have the part for their products, and I ask why would I need to purchase the hose, when it is covered by the 90day warranty.
I was informed that if I did not buy it from Home Depot then I was not covered by a warranty. That I had only 2 chooses to return it to Home Depot and ask them to exchange it or to buy an new unit, why would I want buy another unit if the first one was crap and they do not stand by their warranty.
