We have a former feral cat. After integrating into the family for a couple of years she randomly decided she wanted to spend six months avoiding us in my work room. She’s a bit of a butterball with a thick undercoat and this lead to matting along her back where she couldn’t reach to groom. Once I got ahold of her and started brushing she just melted. Half an hour of patient brushing and a mat-free cat scampered back to the workroom for more skulking. The handle is a great for arthritic hands and the push button is easy to use. Unlike some other brushes this one doesn’t scratch the skin.
The instructions on the back are an amusing read as well.

How to Reduce the Pain during Brushing?
- Hold the hair root with one hand, brush along the direction of hair growth with the other hand.
- When the hair knots are serious behind the ears and on the neck, the movements should be gentle.
- Brush the long hair layer by layer, turning the outer layer over and combing the inner layer.
CAUTION
- Avoid exposure to wet conditions and humid environments.
- Do not come into contact with liquids such as alcohol, diluents, etc.
- Remove pet hair from the brush after use, clean and store dry.
- If the pet has an open wound, grooming after the wound has healed.
- If your pet is not used to grooming, you can use snack to reward your pet and increase the grooming time gradually each day to help the pet get used to grooming.

Thor has very long fur that usually doesn't tangled. Though when fall hits there are burrs everywhere and that means we need a serious brush that is gentle also. This brush fit the bill.
I was able to brush him completely including his belly without hissing, just purring- he actually learned into the brush. The push button cleaning was so easy and quick.
The only minor annoyance I found is the size. I would like a smaller brush size overall, both for maneuvering under arms and around the neck and the handle seems large for my hands.
All things considered I would buy this again.

Okay, this product is genius

We have an older Lab that has started to shed a ton. We can basically vacuum a small dog worth of hair after about every 5 days. We bought this to see if we couldn't get in front of the issue and it works fantastic. The accompanying photo represents about 60 seconds worth of brushing. The genius is in the design. Depress the button and the hair pops right off and you can get back at it. The curved bristles must be the differentiator in the hair removal. We've owned combs that cost 5x as much that didn't work as well. Give it a shot. We think you'll like it a lot.
