Thank you, Jessica Park for pushing my genre-limits. For keeping me captivated in this wonderful paranormal story. I had no idea what was going on in the beginning, but when more and more was revealed, I just couldn't stop turning the page. Thank you for this extremely captivating and well written paranormal LOVE story. Because in the end, it's more than just "paranormal".
In the synopsis where it says “A thriller, a paranormal, and a passionate romance, CLEAR crosses genres and breaks boundaries”… it’s so TRUE!
Jessica Park is one of those authors I stalk, not in a creepy way but am always checking her website or goodreads page to see if she has a new book coming out because I can’t get enough of her writing. One week in January I checked and saw nothing and mentioned to a friend how I wish Jessica Park would come out with a new book soon. A day later I’m seeing she was releasing a book in February and was super excited, didn't need read about it, just added it to my TBR list. Then I read on a blog that it was considered a NA/Paranormal and for a second was like “oh no”, and only because I need to be in the mood for a paranormal, but then my next thought was like “it’s Jessica Park, I’m so not waiting to read it”, very happy I chose not to wait.
Then, he gives me a mischievous smile and asks, “You ready? Because this will probably take a while.”
Oh God, I am totally ready.
This is very different than any paranormal I’ve read. When I think paranormal I think vampires, zombies, fantasy worlds but what Jessica Park created is not even close to any of that and was just utterly unique. Not what I expected all. The trio friendship, their bond, was a complete surprise too, a beautiful mess.
When boundaries fall and truths come out, it can bring a closeness that is unshakable.
I have to agree with a review I read that said this could be considered dark. It is a bit twisted and going into it you need to have an open mind and not mind reading pretty much anything especially when it comes to death and how one might die.
“If you’re lying to us about any of this, I will dismantle what’s left of your world.”
As always Jessica Park sucked me in and dragged me under. Clear: A Death Trippers Novel had heat, strong connections, and uniqueness which completely consumed me. And of course I’m left with a slight book hangover. Now…I’m back to being a creeper, waiting for Jessica Park to announce a next book :)
CLEAR will give readers a rush of adrenaline. It's so sensual and erotic, and not just because of the sexytimes (which are awesome!). Park digs deep and delivers an emotionally complicated story. There are moments when I questioned, should I be having this kind of reaction to what is going on? And the only answer is a resounding YES!
At one point the book was so intense I had to put it down, take a breather and step away. I was scared of what was going to happen to the characters and for every moment that I wasn't reading, I couldn't stop thinking about them.
Fans of Park's books will gladly embrace her unique style and demand more books like CLEAR. Readers who are just discovering her books for the first time will thank their lucky stars that they have more books to devour.
CLEAR is beyond remarkable. I loved it. I can't stop thinking about it. I want to yell at my friends to READ IT NOW. I plan to read it again and again. And I WILL!
