Q1. I do not know my cycle length or my cycle length varies. How do I know when to start testing?
If you don’t know your usual cycle length, you are advised to wait for at least one menstrual cycle, and note the length of this cycle, before using Clearblue DIGITAL Ovulation Test. Once you have determined your cycle length you can use the instructions to work out when to start testing.
If your cycle length varies by more than 3 days, then choose the shortest cycle you have had over the last 6 months to work out when to start testing. It is possible you may need to start a new pack and use the new Test Holder and Test Sticks to detect your LH surge.
Alternatively, if you wish to start testing without knowing your cycle length, we recommend you start testing on day 10. (However, in this case it is possible you may miss your LH surge because you have started testing too late or you may need to start a new pack to continue testing.) (Refer to question 3.)
Q2. How do Clearblue Ovulation Tests work?
The Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test helps you to pinpoint the 2 fertile days in your cycle by identifying a sudden surge in Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in your body with a simple urine test. LH is the hormone that triggers the release of an egg from your ovary. This release – ovulation – usually occurs approximately 24 to 36 hours after the LH surge.
If you use it each day on the days around the time in your cycle when you expect the LH surge, you can predict the 2 days each cycle when you are most fertile and therefore most likely to get pregnant.
Q3. I’ve not yet detected my LH surge. What should I do?
If your cycle length varies by more than 3 days, then it is possible you may need to use more tests to detect your LH surge. Some women do not ovulate each cycle and therefore will not see an LH surge in such cycles. If you are concerned about your results please see your doctor.
Q4. How can ovulation tests maximize my chances of getting pregnant?
The time when you are most fertile is on the day the LH surge is detected and the day after. You are most likely to get pregnant if you have sex on these days. Clearblue Digital Ovulation Tests detect this LH surge, and therefore maximize your chances of getting pregnant.
Q5. How accurate are Clearblue Digital Ovulation Tests?
Clearblue Digital Ovulation Tests have been shown in extensive laboratory trials to be over 99% accurate in detecting the LH surge before ovulation.
Q6. How do I use a Clearblue Digital Ovulation test?
Please note: these are abbreviated instructions. Always read the in-pack leaflet before carrying out a test.
The Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test is very easy to use. When you’re ready to test remove a Test Stick from its foil wrapper. Before applying urine to the Test Stick it must be inserted into the Test Holder.
The Test Stick and Test Holder are marked with pink arrows that must be aligned to ensure correct insertion. The Test Stick clicks into place and a 'Test Ready' symbol appears on the Test Holder display.
When the ‘Test Ready’ symbol appears, you simply hold the Absorbent Tip pointing downwards in your urine stream for 5 to 7 seconds. Alternatively, you can collect a sample of urine in a clean dry container and immerse just the Absorbent Tip in the collected sample for 15 seconds.
Keep the Absorbent Tip pointing downwards or lay the Test flat. After 20 to 40 seconds, the ‘Test Ready’ symbol will flash to show that the test is working. Do not eject the Test Stick. Replace the cap and then wipe off any excess urine.
Within 3 minutes, the display will show your result.
A blank circle means a ‘No LH Surge’ result. Test again tomorrow at the same time using a new Test Stick.
A smiley face means the LH surge has been detected. There is no need to test again this cycle. Having sex any time in the next 48 hours will maximize your chances of getting pregnant.
It’s over 99% accurate at detecting the LH surges. Hormones are a more accurate predictor of ovulation than Basal Body Temperature, which only changes after ovulation.
Certain medications or medical conditions, including but not limited to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) may affect the reliability of this test for predicting ovulation. The Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test quickly and accurately detects the surge of luteinizing hormone in your urine which normally occurs 24-36 hours before ovulation (when you release an egg). Anyhow, i was skeptical but purchased this anyways because a friend of mine said she knew a lady that got pregnant with in 2 months on this OPK. My smiley face came a day or two later than what I originally thought my ovulation would be (Day 18/19). I tested at the same time (about noon) the following day (Day 19) since I know ovulation only takes place for approximately 24 hours, another smiley! I wanted to make sure it wasn't a false reading so I tested again later that evening and my smiley was gone, which was a good sign! I took a pregnancy test on the 1st day of my missed period (a Tuesday), negative. I was not feeling any different & expected it to come within the next day or two. I still had not started by Saturday (St.Read more ›
I should also mention that my husband and I made sure of these things:
1. We both were taking a multi-vitamin everyday. He took a men's multi-vitamin, I took organic prenatal vitamins + cassava root
2. We used sperm-friendly lubrication (I used "Preseed".)
3. We told ourselves to have FUN and know that children are a blessing from God and it's his timing that's perfect...not ours. In the meantime, we'd enjoy our time together and this journey.
I didn't have high hopes or anything when I decided to take a pregnancy test 6 days before my period was supposed to come.Read more ›
It definitely worth the price.
