Question: I do not know my cycle length or my cycle length varies. How do I know when to start testing?

If you don’t know your usual cycle length, you are advised to wait for at least one menstrual cycle, and note the length of this cycle, before using Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test. Once you have determined your cycle length you can use the instructions to work out when to start testing.

If your cycle length varies by more than 3 days, then choose the shortest cycle you have had over the last 6 months to work out when to start testing. It is possible you may need to start a new pack and use the new Test Holder and Test Sticks to detect your LH surge.

Alternatively, if you wish to start testing without knowing your cycle length, we recommend you start testing on day 10. (However, in this case it is possible you may miss your LH surge because you have started testing too late or you may need to start a new pack to continue testing.)

When walking through infertility, defective ovulation tests can be devastating..

My husband and I have walked through 4 years of infertility. Long story, but I do have a diagnosis. This month I have been tracking ovulation with these tests.. feeling fully confident that because they are high tech and expensive, they MUST be the most accurate.
For those of you who haven't used them, you get a blinking smiley face for "high ovulation". Well, today is day 5 of me getting a blinking smiley face test. I have been uneasy about these tests due to having no other symptoms and the length of time I am getting the positives, so today I decided to do some research. It turns out this is a fairly common problem/ defect for these tests. So, I decided to test one of the ovulation strips in straight sink water. And guess what.... I got a positive blinking smiley face! Seeing how sink water doesn't ovulate, I am beyond upset. Frustrated. Hurt. People who have not walked through infertility cannot understand what a positive test - for ANYTHING - can do to one's heart.
Not only will I be reaching out to ClearBlue, I will be letting everyone I know to steer clear of these tests. I will never trust their accuracy again, unfortunately.

Bought this product to have a better understanding of my cycle. The first two days of testing, I had low fertility circles and on the third day I got a peak fertility solid smiley. I wish I had more days to try for insemination but I guess my body didn’t release enough hormones for the test to recognize. Hubby and I baby danced a lot the next 48 hours after getting the peak fertility smiley. I won’t be testing any more until after my next period, I only used 3 strips this cycle. I noticed collecting and seeping the strip was easier for me. I’ll keep updating the review.

Update: Second month using Clear Blue and we are prego. This took the guessing out of the process but make sure you are not obsessing or stressing this plays amajor role in getting pregnant. Make sure to have fun with hubby and remember that God has a plan for your family. Please don’t stress

These work great!! I had 3 days of flashing smilies and then a solid face. I used first morning Urine. After the flashing faces I started testing twice a day, but the solid face still came after a first morning urine. So follow the directions perfectly and you won’t be disappointed.

Also - people who are complaining of inconsistent results are using wrong. You should use ONE holder for the entire cycle. If you run out of strips- buy a new box and use new strips in old holder. The holder has memory and detects changes in your own urine to pick up estrogen. Also- once it starts showing you hi fertility- it will continue to display that until peak. So if you put it in sink water or your husbands urine- yes it will still give the flashing smiley but will never give you peak (which is the main point). So stop wasting your strips on sink water 😂

Edited to add- I am pregnant. Positive test 11 days after ovulating. This is a great product.

First time user here, recently married & my husband and I were ready to start trying for our first child. I have pretty variable (not irregular) periods (29-35 days) so I was concerned that figuring out when I was ovulating would be more difficult. Based on the instructions given in the box I started testing on day 10 and got a negative (baseline) result. For 9 days after I had blinking high fertile smileys. I tested every morning right after I woke up, however that last morning of my blinking smiley day I decided to test that evening when I got home from work. What do you know, got a solid smiley, my peak! My husband & I baby danced every other day during the blinking smiley days but baby danced 3 times during my peak "48 hour" window. 1 day past AF & I've had two positive pregnancy tests!! Absolutely loved this product and helped take the guessing and stress out of the process. Will definitely use again in the future!

I wanted to love this ovulation test. It is very easy to use. Buuuttt...

First problem was I had my first reader for less than a month when I got the “book” icon which basically means it’s done. So I thought, “Okay, maybe I wasn’t gentle enough with it. Or maybe I shouldn’t be urinating directly on the strip.” So, I ordered another one.

This time, I got the flashy smiley face for 7 straight days, which means “high fertility.” I thought, this is weird, so I ran some water on a test strip and got the same result (high fertility). Curious, I called ClearBlue customer support. The gal was very nice, but I learned that once you get the initial high fertility you’re stuck with it until you reach peak fertility. The device doesn’t have the capability to go between high, low, or peak days. I was also informed by the customer rep that is you have been diagnosed with PCOS, the test is “unreliable.” She was not able to elaborate very well. So I will not be using this ovulation kit any longer as I was advised by the manufacturer that it is not accurate enough for me.
