The Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Test is the only one that typically identifies your 4 best days to get pregnant naturally - 2 more days than any other test [1]. It identifies your 2 Peak Fertility days (Peak Fertility remains on the display continuously for 2 days) and, typically, 2 High Fertility days by accurately tracking 2 key fertility hormones, luteinizing hormone (LH) and estrogen - plus your 2 typically High Fertility days before that. So you have more opportunities to get pregnant naturally [2].

Once High Fertility has been detected (flashing smiley face), the holder will continue to display High Fertility until Peak Fertility has been identified.

Its unique smart algorithm is the only one that can adapt every time you test to indicate your wider personal fertility window.


Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Test is 99% accurate [3] at detecting your luteinizing hormone (LH) surge. The optical reader gives you clear digital results displayed as a smiley face. A constant smiley face stays on the screen to remind you that your Peak Fertility window lasts for 48 hours. No need to test anymore this cycle!	All other ovulation tests only detect one hormone, luteinizing hormone (LH). Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Test detects the rise in LH and estrogen, another key fertility hormone that increases in the days before the LH surge. By tracking these 2 key hormones, this test typically identifies 4 fertile days leading up to and including the day of ovulation—2x as many as any other test (1).	A clear circle indicates Low Fertility. It is unlikely, but not impossible, intercourse will result in pregnancy. A flashing smiley face indicates High Fertility. When the holder displays High Fertility, it will continue to display this result until Peak Fertility is detected or tests have been missed for 3 days. A solid smiley face that remains on the display continuously for 2 days indicates Peak Fertility. This is your most fertile time. You maximize your chance of getting pregnant if you have intercourse today.	You cannot do another test while Peak Fertility is shown, as the Holder will not be able to read it.


Not all cycles are the same. The number of fertile days you see is personal to you. Every woman’s cycles are unique and hormone patterns differ. In a study of 87 women, this is what we observed.	If you see more than 9 High Fertility days you may wish to stop testing this cycle - If you started testing on the correct day for your usual cycle length and you see 9 or more days of High Fertility, it is unlikely that you will see Peak Fertility in this cycle. - Occasionally some women have an LH surge that is too low for the test to detect or they do not ovulate during a cycle and therefore they don’t see Peak Fertility. This is not unusual and may happen in approximately 8% of cycles. If you do not see Peak Fertility for 3 consecutive cycles, we recommend you discuss this with your doctor.	Only test once a day until you see High Fertility - For reliable High Fertility results you must use the urine from after your longest sleep. - When you have seen High Fertility you can test more often, but avoid excess fluid intake before testing. Q1. Do I keep testing after I receive a Peak result? How long is the Peak result supposed to remain on the display?

A1. It is not possible to continue testing once Peak Fertility is displayed. Peak Fertility symbol will show on the day it is first detected and the day after. Therefore it will remain on the display for 48 hours after it is first detected and indicates that you are at your most fertile.

You cannot perform another test while there is a result on the display. After Peak Fertility is displayed you must stop testing for this cycle. You can save any remaining test sticks for use in a future cycle if required but you must use the same Holder for a cycle of testing (do not change Holders part way through a cycle of use). You can test more than one time a day once the High Fertility symbol has been displayed.

Q2. What time of the day should I test?

A2. To make sure that the hormone levels in your urine are concentrated enough for the test to detect, it is important to use the first urine after your longest sleep. This is especially important for the detection of High Fertility as most estrogen production takes place while you sleep.

Q3. What does it mean if the test goes straight from Low Fertility to Peak Fertility?

A3. This product tracks the changes in estrogen and luteinizing hormone (LH) throughout the menstrual cycle. If the necessary changes in estrogen are detected the Holder will display High Fertility and if the necessary changes in LH are detected the Holder will display Peak Fertility.

If the hormone changes naturally occur close together it is possible that High Fertility may not be displayed and that the Holder will change from Low Fertility to Peak Fertility without displaying High Fertility. We would like to reassure you that this does not mean that your product is faulty and that you have still detected your two most fertile days to try to conceive.

However if tests are missed or not performed correctly (i.e., missampled, mistimed or a weak concentration of urine is used) then your High Fertility results can also be affected.

When walking through infertility, defective ovulation tests can be devastating..

My husband and I have walked through 4 years of infertility. Long story, but I do have a diagnosis. This month I have been tracking ovulation with these tests.. feeling fully confident that because they are high tech and expensive, they MUST be the most accurate.
For those of you who haven't used them, you get a blinking smiley face for "high ovulation". Well, today is day 5 of me getting a blinking smiley face test. I have been uneasy about these tests due to having no other symptoms and the length of time I am getting the positives, so today I decided to do some research. It turns out this is a fairly common problem/ defect for these tests. So, I decided to test one of the ovulation strips in straight sink water. And guess what.... I got a positive blinking smiley face! Seeing how sink water doesn't ovulate, I am beyond upset. Frustrated. Hurt. People who have not walked through infertility cannot understand what a positive test - for ANYTHING - can do to one's heart.
Not only will I be reaching out to ClearBlue, I will be letting everyone I know to steer clear of these tests. I will never trust their accuracy again, unfortunately.

Bought this product to have a better understanding of my cycle. The first two days of testing, I had low fertility circles and on the third day I got a peak fertility solid smiley. I wish I had more days to try for insemination but I guess my body didn’t release enough hormones for the test to recognize. Hubby and I baby danced a lot the next 48 hours after getting the peak fertility smiley. I won’t be testing any more until after my next period, I only used 3 strips this cycle. I noticed collecting and seeping the strip was easier for me. I’ll keep updating the review.

Update: Second month using Clear Blue and we are prego. This took the guessing out of the process but make sure you are not obsessing or stressing this plays amajor role in getting pregnant. Make sure to have fun with hubby and remember that God has a plan for your family. Please don’t stress

These work great!! I had 3 days of flashing smilies and then a solid face. I used first morning Urine. After the flashing faces I started testing twice a day, but the solid face still came after a first morning urine. So follow the directions perfectly and you won’t be disappointed.

Also - people who are complaining of inconsistent results are using wrong. You should use ONE holder for the entire cycle. If you run out of strips- buy a new box and use new strips in old holder. The holder has memory and detects changes in your own urine to pick up estrogen. Also- once it starts showing you hi fertility- it will continue to display that until peak. So if you put it in sink water or your husbands urine- yes it will still give the flashing smiley but will never give you peak (which is the main point). So stop wasting your strips on sink water 😂

Edited to add- I am pregnant. Positive test 11 days after ovulating. This is a great product.

First time user here, recently married & my husband and I were ready to start trying for our first child. I have pretty variable (not irregular) periods (29-35 days) so I was concerned that figuring out when I was ovulating would be more difficult. Based on the instructions given in the box I started testing on day 10 and got a negative (baseline) result. For 9 days after I had blinking high fertile smileys. I tested every morning right after I woke up, however that last morning of my blinking smiley day I decided to test that evening when I got home from work. What do you know, got a solid smiley, my peak! My husband & I baby danced every other day during the blinking smiley days but baby danced 3 times during my peak "48 hour" window. 1 day past AF & I've had two positive pregnancy tests!! Absolutely loved this product and helped take the guessing and stress out of the process. Will definitely use again in the future!

I wanted to love this ovulation test. It is very easy to use. Buuuttt...

First problem was I had my first reader for less than a month when I got the “book” icon which basically means it’s done. So I thought, “Okay, maybe I wasn’t gentle enough with it. Or maybe I shouldn’t be urinating directly on the strip.” So, I ordered another one.

This time, I got the flashy smiley face for 7 straight days, which means “high fertility.” I thought, this is weird, so I ran some water on a test strip and got the same result (high fertility). Curious, I called ClearBlue customer support. The gal was very nice, but I learned that once you get the initial high fertility you’re stuck with it until you reach peak fertility. The device doesn’t have the capability to go between high, low, or peak days. I was also informed by the customer rep that is you have been diagnosed with PCOS, the test is “unreliable.” She was not able to elaborate very well. So I will not be using this ovulation kit any longer as I was advised by the manufacturer that it is not accurate enough for me.
