What is ClicBot?

ClicBot is an intelligent coding robot, good for both education and entertaining. It's extremely modular, making robot is like building robot blocks. ClicBot is a robotics creation platform that allow you to build robots and share ideas with worldwide talents.

In pieces version, it can develop your hands-on ability, creativity, unlimited imagination by clicking separate robotics block together. Build reality famous characters, like Jedi, Buzz Lightyear, Lightning McQueen, even Mickey Mouse and whoever you like or whatever beyond pictures in your mind.

In robot version, you can absorb 3D thinking imagination, logical thinking ability, problem solving ability from ClicBot. First, the exactly same 3D model appear on ClicBot APP as the robot configuration you made. Yes, ClicBot is fully programmable. From motion programming, which requires no coding skills, to Blockly drag and drop programming, ClicBot helps train logical thinking ability and learn coding basics.

2. Can I purchase the ClicBot part separately?

You can buy any parts of ClicBot separately to build the robot you want, and you can also buy more accessories to create more possibility after you getting a ClicBot kit.

3. How to control it ?

You can control ClicBot with unique ClicBot App, downloadable from App Store and Google Play. (Above iOS 10 or Android 5.0 system)

You can connect ClicBot with your phone or iPad in the same WiFi, or directly via hotspot when outdoors.

4. How long the battery last and how to charge?

There is no solid battery lasting time because ClicBot is modular. The bigger your robot is, the faster it consumes the battery. A reference is in "Bac" mode, the battery last for 2.5 hours. Charging is with any 5V 2A adapter via original cable.

5. Will it keep updating?

Yes, not only firmware will keep updating to optimize customer experience, ClicBot App will also be continuously updated for new video courses, new downloadable robots, and other new contents.

I almost never write reviews, but this is an exception.

I bought the Maker kit (as a late Christmas gift to myself) because I wanted to have as much flexibility to explore the product as possible. I've long been interested in robotics and I was intrigued by the wide number of components and the almost limitless ways in which they can be combined.

I built the default "Bac" unit first, and was entertained by it's antics, games and behavior. I recognize this is a "scripted" execution, but it nevertheless exposes you to the potential that exists within the system,

I'm slowly beginning to explore the user community and gather information on creating my own designs using the Blockly programming feature. I look forward to the upcoming Python/API features but understand that it may take some time to deliver against that.

In summary, for me it is the sheer potential and flexibility that drew me in. I recognize that the product is early in its lifecycle, but the developers seem committed, engaged and enthusiastic in taking this to a positive outcome and I want to be along for the ride.

Horrible experience and had such high hopes. Explanations on preprogrammed builds is non existent...what does any of the controls on the pre builds actually do? Sure you can build your own, but to engage a child and for 1.2k put some color picture in the box that explain what going with 3-5 builds “start to finish” ....actually put any type of directions in the box because your websight/ networking program is yet another example of close but not close enough. . Would also spontaneously fall apart, every piece needs updated individually vs In a Chain or by just connecting it to the head piece and having a mode that would allow you to do them one by one....no you start a build and then it’s update after update......

WAY TOO MANY GLITCHES- Seller wont allow returns- not worth the high price tag

While the robot itself is cool and the features are fun, the robot itself has too many problems to warrant such a high price tag. Since the first week of it's use, the robot has many moments of turning off and not turning on despite it being fully charged. There will be times it turns on, then the screen goes black, then the logo comes on and it does nothing even with turning it on and off again. Customer support is worthless because they have not replied to ANY of the messages or emails I sent. Would not order this. Spend your money on a robot that has been around long enough to iron out the kinks and has enough staff to care about you.

The clicbot is very cute looking and is quite well designed mechanically. The initial set up look a bit of time. Usage is easy enough to learn, but the programming aspects (via the app) are not yet perfect but they are improving it over time. The joints are powerful so some care should be used to keep the robot itself completely safe! Really wish the interlocking features are built into the connections but I can see how that would be difficult. There were some damages made due to a combination of factors and the customer services are very responsive on resolving my problem.

I did a lot of research on bots prior to purchase and have had some experience with bots that are less flexible. ClicBot really stood out with its modular design and ability to program using a visual interface so you don't need to have software development skills in order to make your bots do what you want. In fact, ClicBot makes it even easier since they have a "Community" area where other users have uploaded their designs/code that you can copy and modify to your own liking. Build quality of the modules is solid and gives me confidence that I can let my younger kids play with it. If they drop it, no problem as it can just clic back together easily. This is super important given the price point of this bot. The price is more than justified since it looks like the makers (KeyiRobot) are really investing in this and will continue to add features. They even reached out to me directly for feedback on the product. Looking forward to see how this evolves.

I ordered 2 maker kits after seeing them at CES 2020. I understand from the Kickstarter that the development is ongoing and will continue to improve. The packaging is done very well and the out of the box robot designs are easy to build and the virtual guidance is great.

I had an issue with certain models falling apart at more stressed joints but the included joint locking pieces resolve that.

The blocky interface is easy but I had to request information from support on how to set variable values in some of the block modules. The quickly provided a video that explains it and when I spoke to them they advised that they will be making it available in the online manual as well.

My 7 year old was able to easily build the simple robots but needed some basic assistance to follow the instructions for more complex models. My 10 and 16 year olds had no real trouble building and using Clicbot within 10 minutes of getting into the boxes. Of course we charged the brain modules the night before.

So far we have had fun with the pre-designed models and are just starting to explore the blocky code custom robots. I did provide the Clicbot team some feedback on app usage and future STEAM education curriculum and I am excited to see what comes in the future. I have been using the iRobot root for classroom education as a fun side project so adding Clicbots to the day of code activities will be a great addition.

Please note that the manual does warn against plugging 2 brain modules into a single robot (basically connecting them together in any way), but I think this could be more pronounced when opening the box especially when you buy multiple kits for smaller children who desire to use 2 brains to get 2 eyes on their robot creations. :)

Thanks Clicbot. I can’t wait for the ability to share these with the school once we can go back onsite.
