Thanks to Norman Bridwell (author of Clifford the Big Red Dog) and Scholastic we have Clifford the Big Red Dog, one of the best children's shows ever made. The cast for Clifford the Big Red Dog is perfect. Clifford is voiced by the late (sniff) irreplaceable John Ritter. (I mean really can you imagine another person voicing Clifford?) Clifford has three best friends, Cleo, (Voiced by Cree Summer) T-Bone, (Voiced by Kel Mitchell) and his owner Emily Elizabeth Howard. (Voiced by Grey DeLisle) Some of my favorite episodes from the series are "Tummy Trouble," "Mac's Secret Dog Club," "Screaming for Ice Cream" and I could go on and on.
When I found out they're DVD's of Clifford the Big Red Dog I started buying them almost instantly. (I only have a few more to go) In this "best of" there are a collection of five DVD's. They have all been previously released but if you have not bought these Clifford the Big Red Dog DVD's already you should purchase this collection. (It saves you a lot of cash)
Clifford the Big Red Dog DVD's usually have around eight to ten episodes on each disc. But I wish we had the episodes in their entirety. Unfortunately these DVD's don't feature all these segments in an episode, but all's not lost. In the bonus features I was relieved to see they still had a few Speckle Stories and Clifford's Big Ideas. (Hopefully one day Scholastic will release seasons of Clifford the Big Red Dog)
The Best of Clifford has five discs contained in a plastic box which doesn't scratch the discs at all, and a pamphlet that features the episodes just in case you forgot which discs they're on. Since you might not know what episodes are included in this set I'll list them below.
The first disc is the DVD Everyone Loves Clifford! And Good Friends, Good Times and the episodes included are;
Jetta's Tall Tale
Everyone Loves Clifford
Clifford Grows Up
Cyber Puppy Problems
Welcome to the Doghouse
A Friend in Need
Forgive & Forget
The second disc is the DVD Doggie Detectives and the episodes included are;
The Kibble Crook
Who Moved My Bone
To Catch a Bird
Mac's Secret Dog Club
The Truth about Dogs and Cats
Magic Is in the Air
The third disc is the DVD Rock N' Roll Clifford! And Team Clifford! And the episodes included are;
Dog House Rock
The Great Race
The fourth disc is the DVD Look Out, Clifford! And Big Fun in the Sun and the episodes included are;
Clifford's Charm School
Best Paw Forward
An Itchy Patch
Camping It Up
Hooray for Cleo
Home Is Where the Fun Is
And the fifth and final disc in this "best of" set is the DVD Clifford Saves the Day! And Clifford's Fluffiest Friend Cleo and the episodes included are;
Islander of the Year
Clifford on Parade
Cleo's Fair Share
Noon and Night
The bonus features for these sets include segments from the television show like Speckle Stories, Clifford's Big Ideas and Real-Life Doggie Friends. Some extra features included are Trailers, (wow that's some special feature, oh brother) a tour of Birdwell Island, a who's who game and learning the Clifford dance.
This is a very affordable Clifford the Big Red Dog collection and I recommend it.
The collection contains 5 DVDs, and are packaged so that the DVD case isn't much bigger than a single DVD case. The case also comes inside a little plastic box with Clifford's face on it, which was a nice touch. The stories themselves are cute, inoffensive, and contain gentle messages about sharing, playing nicely, and so on.
While there are more Clifford episodes out there, this collection contains all of the Clifford I'll ever need, and it represents a good value for the cost.
The DVD has two sets of four episodes for a total of eight. From the main menu, you can choose which chapter you would like to see, either "Happy Birthday Clifford" or "Puppy Love". Each chapter plays four episodes.
The only negative thing about this DVD is that after you watch one complete chapter, it goes back to the menu where you have to manually select the next group of episodes.
There is a fun game called Cleo's Groovy Grooming Shop where you can dress up Clifford and his friends using your DVD remote control! There are two other features: Real-life doggy friends and Parenting tips.
Bottom line: Another great Clifford DVD, but I wouldn't consider it a great DVD for the car.
This set is great! All of the discs are easy to use and are organized quite well. The exceptional PBS quality show is now ready for us to see just about any time! John Ritter and the rest of the cast make this show so much fun for any age to watch. The graphics are great, the music is great, and the story line is classic.
I wasn't expecting the cute little plastic case that came outside the box. I am not sure what else it might be used for as it is not really strong enough for a storage container. We will probably end up getting rid of that part. The CD case holds all of the CDs inside quite nicely.
If you like Clifford, this is the ultimate CD pack to buy! I highly recommend it! I know. I have already seen them all about 10 times each, and Clifford is a daily routine in our house now!
