Jennifer Marohasy, PhD, is the editor. She’s an Australian marine biologist with knowledge about how the climate functions. Much of the research presented in the book concerns work performed in the southern hemisphere, aside from Australia. I am not sure whether Dr. Marohasy deliberately chose or steered the choices of research to present due to her familiarity with Australia, but it is a good idea as research in the southern hemisphere is under represented in the literature.
The book is well written and the prose is easy to follow. However, there is a tremendous amount of information presented! It may be advantageous to read a smaller book which delves into only one to five of the subjects contained in “Climate Change – The Facts 2020” in order to become familiar with some of the topics contained, thereby making the chapters easier to follow. I, for one, have read many books about climate which had been written by scientists who do not agree that the climate is being altered by human activity. This helped my understanding of each subject. Still, I found a lot of new information and a lot of updated information – which was why I had purchased this book. Though I found that Chapter 13, Reflections on the Iris Effect, was hard to wrap my brain around, even after reading it twice.
It would have been nice if an Index section was included, but, in the world of climate information publishing, this seems to be a rare thing. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this very up to date and informative publication, concerning past and present global climate, to lay scientists, climate aficionados and those interested individuals who have achieved college degrees.
