About the Author

I live in the Great Lakes state with my husband, three rambunctious children and two barking Beagles (I suppose that is redundant.) When not suffering the woes of potty training three toddler/preschoolers, I enjoy reading, running (sometimes it's fleeing the craziness at home), reconstructing clothing, thrift store shopping, and surfing Pinterest.com. (I spend way too much time there and am getting all kinds of exciting ideas for projects for my hus-band to do. He is less than thrilled by this.) I love writing romance because I enjoy stories where everything works out all right in the end and the main characters have a happily ever after. My stories are set in small towns with quirky characters that take on a life of their own.

Ms. Vaughn makes you fall in love with romance. Ryan and Tara have obstacles to overcome as in any good story, but Ms. V. takes us through the story with lots of emotional ups and downs feeling everything each character feels. Told with humor and authenticity by an author whose hobby of running lends much color to this story.

Joselyn Vaughn has written another great romance with characters you want to laugh with and cry. Life doesn't always work as we planned. See the lemons Ryan and Tara have to squeeze. Well done!

Tara always relied on her beauty. When an accident scars her, her dreams of being a pro cheerleader dies because she is flawed. I think that is beyond awful for a cheer squad to do, but whatever. Not knowing what else to do, she goes home and takes a tax prep course to give her some direction of what she would do with her life. I have done that too when I was younger. Worked for a well known tax prep place too. Now that Tara has a job with an independent tax preparer she is left to do it all when her boss is on bed rest 8 weeks before she is due. She is forced to call Charlie to help. He is a sleazebag. Thank God we have Ryan.

Ryan is a professional runner (my husband wishes he was one) who had knee surgery. Not knowing what to do with himself he moves back with his mom while he convolesses. He decides to go get his taxes done and meets Tara and he notices more than just her brains.

When Charlie causes trouble, it is Ryan who comes to Tara's rescue. Together they take down the bad guy and fall in love.

A sweet read

This was a sweet, clean romance. It moved at a pretty steady pace. I found myself dreading it though when I had to read the parts about Charlie. It was so easy to figure out what would happen, that I found myself wanting to skip over his appearances (but I didn't). Was glad when he finally got what was coming to him.

The story had a few surprises, a few sweet moments and a few "really?" moments.

There were a few odd components....such as, why was there a mechanical bull and a dunk tank at a black tie event fundraiser.

The story concept was good, the characters were easy to relate to, and the dialogue went pretty smoothly between the characters. All in all, a good read.

Would I recommend this book? Yes if you want a sweet read with no heat.

Would I read more from this author? Most likely. I need to see if there was a previous book to this one, if so, I do want to read it to find out about the other couple in this book.

I really enjoyed this story, the main characters are realistic and believable, just like you and me. I like the growth of Tara, from insecure with hardly any self-esteem to learning to believe in herself with Ryan's help. One of the things that make this an enjoyable story for me is that although the story details Tara's struggle with herself, she still impacts Ryan and helps him face his reality. I think right from the beginning there's an obvious point in the plot, which I usually dislike, however even though I could guess the basic version of the end for Ryan and Tara, I didn't see the twist coming. I think overall this is a great story and I look forward to reading more by Joselyn Vaughn, as this is the first work I've read by her.

Sweet romance with great characters!

Great, heartfelt story. Ryan and Tara are very real characters. It's almost as if you're listening to your best friend telling you the story over coffee.

Personally, I related much more to Ryan than I did Tara. I'm a runner who recently underwent foot surgery so all of those feelings she describes so well I KNOW. I have felt them myself. I was literally crying when the doctor gave Ryan his prognosis.

Both Ryan and Tara are lost in their own way and I love how each of them recognizes the strength of character and heart in the other. I have a feeling this will be a book I read over and over again.

I really loved this story! It shows that a romance does not have to have raunchy over drawn out sex to be great! Ryan grant is home recuperating from a knee injury and determined to start training asap. Tara is in a bind at the tax firm she is working at. When he comes in to have his taxes done the sparks are ignited and he keeps coming back. Then he gets bad news about his knee, and the person she calls for backup tries to frame her. Ryan insists on helping her and she blatantly refuses. Both healing from traumas in their lives they help each other heal. Great read. I recommend this book to one and all!

More than just Fluff

I always enjoy the books Astraea Press puts out. I can depend on clean romance books and that's what I get every time. Today I have another great book- Climbing Heartbreak Hill by author Joselyn Vaughn. It's a great story that weaves in lots of topics we can all relate to ~ injury, recovery, disappointment, insecurity, attraction, cooperation and opportunity.

I liked Tara and I like Ryan. I like them together~ their interactions and their chemistry. They were a good support to each other. This book was more than fluff and I liked that a lot. Well, I like the fluff too. :) It was an enjoyable read and I'm glad I picked it up.
