Main product is uber-excellent but critical components broke within days of receipt

I started using this almost immediately as a way to exercise my hands, since the muscles have begun to tighten as I age. The main body of the product is excellent, and the product itself is very easy to use. My only issue is the bands that connect the fingers / thumb to the main device -- there are 3 "settings" you can use for tension on each finger. I set these for the first / lightest setting, and one of the finger bands snapped after 2 days of use. A second band snapped after 3 days, a third band snapped after 6 days and the final finger band snapped last night after 10 days usage. The design of the bands is excellent, but the material they are made of is not durable -- when I originally received the device, I noticed this fact and went ahead and ordered a supply of 5 extra finger bands, figuring that I would likely need 1-2 after months of use or after increasing the tension and such. Long story short, after the first band broke, I did use one of the replacement bands which snapped again after approx. 3 days of usage. Annoyed, I took a simpler and cheaper approach -- I replaced all the finger bands with standard rubber bands (the kind that come with your newspaper). The device works exactly the same, and I can increase the tension when I am ready by simply using shorter rubber bands or multiple rubber bands per finger. Would I recommend this device -- yes, but with the caveat to replace the finger bands with simple rubber bands.

This is a great device for those with arthritis in the hands, carpel tunnel syndrome etc....! Regular use in fact helps pain and the regaining of finger movement.

Give overall 4-Stars as the bands do in fact break pretty regularly and quite expensive to replace.

Wish made something like this for toes, etc...! If do cannot find?

Like in one of the "Kill Bill" movies, were main character forces toe to move, this device can also train fingers to move various ways both individually or in-conjunction each other, in addition pain relief!

Great product but 4-Stars due cost of bands if break, but otherwise highly recommend. (Veterans should look into this with local VA etc...???)

I purchased this product, despite the marginal reviews, in hopes of getting some relief from arthritis pain. I was surprised to find the supplied finger bands consisted of 4 large and 5 small. If you have normal sized hands, you will probably elect to use a the large bands so that you don't have to reposition the bands when you switch use from right to left hands. This also means that should a band break you only have the small size for replacements. I followed the instructions to pre-stretch the bands before use and installed them in the top position, that is, the position with the least tension. Upon first use, at least two of the bands pulled through their anchor points. I reinstalled the bands and positioned them lower on my fingers and tried again. This time they did not pull out, but obviously, tension cannot be increased by moving the bands to the second or third position as they will simply pull through the anchor points.

The second time I used the device, one of the bands broke. I replaced it with a small band as there were no spare large ones. The third time I used it, a second band broke. Again, I replaced it with a small band. I am now careful to pre-stretch the bands before each use and position the bands low on my fingers and have not broken any additional bands. I have average sized hands and fingers and it is uncomfortable to use the the small finger bands as they are extremely tight. Rather than waste additional money on replacement bands (a set of 15 replacement bands contains only 6 large and 9 small) I will buy a bag of rubber bands and fashion my own for a fraction of the price.

Although I cannot recommend this device due to the poor quality of the bands, it does seem to provide some relief from arthritis pain when used consistently every other day.

Strengthens and alleviates hand cramps

This product is great for strengthening hand muscles. My hands often cramp and 1 min per day on each hand helps tremendously. The middle plastic piece is a bit large for my hand and slides up so I pull it down while doing the exercises. A small compensation for the strength I am gaining in my hands. If anyone knows the pain of cramped hands, you can appreciate the relief. If you are wondering, it is the opposite motion of a gripper or stress ball. That is exactly what is needed if your hand is already moving inward.

Absolutely fabulous concept..........BUT extremely poor design. I would not waste your money until the manufacturer comes up with a better design. I followed the instructions explicitly. I pre stretched the finger bands as directed. They seemed to come out of the "anchor" very easily. I tried numerous times to keep them in the anchor position, but every time I began to use the device, the finger bands would come out of the anchor position. I am a fix it kind of guy, so, I decided to silicone the bands in the anchors. After letting the silicone dry for several days, it solved the problem. The manufacturer needs to redesign the anchors by making them smaller. I believe this will solve the problem. In the mean time, don't waste your money!!!

Like many other users I think this is a well thought out product. It is let down by the sub standard stretchers, one of which broke on second use. It is easy to see the problem when doing the pre stretch routine. Supplier obviously is aware as he kindly added extra grey stretchers and also included a set of the blue silicon version. I hope these are better or it will be going back.

I bought this item for my dad who is recovering from a stroke but has partial paralysis down his right side. We have been using lots of different methods to help him get the use of his right hand and arm back and the Xtensor Hand Exerciser is one of the ways for him to stretch and close his hand to strengthen his hand and fingers now that we have got a bigger range of movement in his hand. I would add it shouldn't be used initially until you can get a range of movement in the fingers but his physiotherapist has approved the use of it after the work we have already done.

Mein Beruf ist med. Masseurin und die Handinnenfläche ist dadurch stark trainiert. So entsteht eine Dysbalance und die Finger, die ganze Hand sowie Handgelenk und Unterarm bis zum Ellenbogen beginnen zu schmerzen.
Dass die Hände trainiert werden sollten, ist den meisten bekannt, aber alle Maschinen und Geräte sind nur für die innere Muskulatur der Hand zuständig, nie für die äussere. Die sind aber sehr wichtig, damit ich die Finger auch wieder gut strecken kann (die Krallenhand). Diese "Krallenhand" ist schmerzhaft und auch nicht schön...
Deshalb kann ich dieses Gerät nur empfehlen, stärkt die obere/äussere Handmuskulatur.
Warum nur vier Sterne: das Ding sollte noch etwas überarbeitet werden. Beim Handgelenk Innenseite ist, wenn es festgemacht ist etwas unangenehm (Druck) und die Gummiringe für die Finger sind für feingliederige Hände fast etwas zu locker.

Bands stay in place, if put in place properly. Muscles in the arm hurt after use, because that's what happens when you work out a muscle. Most of the negative things I've seen written in the product reviews are more of a reflection on the user's inability to figure things out or to understand what a workout is, rather than an actual criticism of the product.
I'm only giving it 4 stars because I've only used the product for a couple of weeks and I can't be sure that the bands won't break, like many users are saying they do.
