This product provides a way to temporarily seal a bag of chips, or any type of plastic bag or foil bag. It is an improvement over the typical clamp-type butterfly clip. It seals better, and takes up less space, and is not likely to get knocked loose accidentally. They seem very sturdy.

In our freezer, the half-finished bags of frozen veggies are kept sealed with these closures. In the pantry cabinet, we are using these for chip bags, of course, but also to hold a bag of cereal closed, even if still inside the cardboard box.

They take up very little space when in use, if the length of the clip is matched to the size of the bag opening or bag width.

Each "clip" consists of 2 pieces: a cylindrical rod and a U-shaped trough. For some reason each clip has one piece being longer than the other; maybe that makes it easier to peel them apart, when opening the bag.

These bag clips are available in various sizes and set groupings. This specific "Variety 10 Pack" is a good choice for the average household (although we later decided to buy more). This set has 4 different sizes; approximate measurements are listed below:

14" rod and 12 1/2" U-shaped trough, "large" size.
10 1/8" rod and 8 5/8" U-shaped trough, "medium" size.
6 5/8" rod and 5 1/8" U-shaped trough, "small" size.
6 1/8" rod and 5 5/8" U-shaped trough (BTW, this size is thinner in diameter than the others. This might be what they are calling the "tweener" size?).

The package contains at least 2 of each size, and 3 for some sizes (I can't remember which).

These clips make an air-tight seal, assuring that your stuff will stay fresh longer. It clamps with a lot of force, so there's a bit of a trick to putting them on and taking them off: When installing, put a good bend in the rod portion so that you're only forcing a short length into the "gripper" at any one time. Likewise, when you go to remove it, put your thumb on the exposed portion of the rod just inside the gripper and wrap your forefinger over the portion of the rod that extends out past the gripper and give the rod a good bend away from the gripper. It should pop loose pretty easily. Keep bending the rod away from the gripper until it is completely off. They ought to include this in their instructions.

Spring-loaded bag clips often seem very weak, and often they're flimsy so that there's not uniform pressure along the length. These things provide an absolute seal with a very easy on-off. On some thick bags, getting one on can be a challenge, but usually using the largest diameter clip makes it easy. I think the difficulty is because the thick bag has to make that sharp bend inside the small clip.

If you find the large clips too long, cut them in half with a shop knife and you may find them more useful.

These things are great! I am a fan of a simple solution, and that's what these are. Not over-engineered, not complicated. Anyone who sees them wants to know where to find them. I recommend the multi-pack with different sizes.

I HATE HATE HATE the various "bag clips" that are normally sold in local stores. You know the type, very cheap plastic clips that really don't have a whole lot of spring force, and are mostly useless on large size bags since they only clip the middle. I hate to sound like one of those informerical guys who can't figure out how to seal a bag, but seriously, on a large bag of pretzels, the best option is to only open the corner so you can seal it with a small clip. So when I saw an "ad" for these on the Amazon home page, I figured I'd give them a try.

Yes, they work, yes they seal VERY well, yes you can open the whole bag, and these will seal the whole thing closed. There are some very long clips in the package, the longest is more than enough to clip closed a large bag of popcorn, and the smaller ones work great for bread bags, single sleeves of crackers, etc. This is a great idea that works. And they're seriously easy to use, I don't think there's a lot of "muscle" needed to clip it closed or re-open. I tried the seal out by cutting the top of a large zip-seal bag, putting water in it and closing with the long clip. You can turn it over, around, lie it down on the counter, no leaks.

Great product.

My love for these clips is hard to describe, but when you find a simple solution that not only isn't surpassed by more complicated and expensive ones but also borders on perfection, well you fall in love. These are amazing. They work great for soft plastic bags, mylar, even paper bags. They just create a tight seal, and chips, pretzels, powdered sugar, coffee, pizza rolls, tater tots, etc ... simply stay fresh.

Highly recommended!

These clips are easy to use and close a bag very effectively. However, in order to open and close them, the inner rod has to be inches longer than the outer clip and the bag. So in our cabinet, we now need 3 inches more room for potato chip bags and the bags don't fit well.

I wish I would hae purchased thsee good old clipsthat latch - http://www.amazon.com/13-pc-Clips-Sealer-Coupon-Colors/dp/B005WLI4DC/ref=sr_1_6?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1400208641&sr=1-6&keywords=bag+clips

Something that surprised me - how very useful the teeny tiny very narrow Clip-n-Seal Clips are. I have them on my bags of Miracle-Gro now. It's nice to be SURE nothing will get in or out.
