I'd like to introduce you to one of the finest short story writers in America. I say I'd like to, but many of you already know John Floyd by his current books Clockwork, After Midnight and Rainbow's End. He is a master of plot and characterization, and Clockwork is the finest work he has yet produced. Here is a storyteller with an amazing repertoire of writing styles, a man who leaves you guessing until the final sentence. Yes, read this, enjoy this, for Clockwork is indeed a tome of our times

I have enjoyed all three of John M. Floyd's short story collections. Clockwork has a number of John's famous Angela Potts mysteries and dozens of other stories. In this collection John has demonstrated his talent to write in the Western genre as well as in comic scifi. His plots are entertaining, his characters interesting and his endings often surprise the reader. I highly recommend this book.

"Clockwork" is a selection of short stories written by my teacher, John Floyd. He does an outstanding job of keeping the suspense up. He teaches "Writing and Selling Short Stories I and II" at Millsaps College, in Mississippi. He was an excellent teacher, and an even better writer (if it were possible to top excellent!).

Just how many twist can you have in a story of this length. I thought I had it figured out after the first page. On the second page, I found it I didn't. On the third page, the process started all over. Thoroughly entertaining, suspensful and captivating. You won't put this one down to answer the telephone. Cal Adams, Madison, Ms
