Close to Destiny: A Novel Kindle Edition
"A remarkable and fantastical journey! Adria J. Cimino spins a web ofbelievable magic, love that transcends time, betrayal, redemption, andabove all... Destiny. You won't be able to turn the pages fast enough to see what else is around the corner!" -- Amy Impellizzeri, author ofaward-winning novel Lemongrass Hope.
"An intriguing and fast paced read about people whose present dayexistences are eerily interlinked to the past. The book explores, amongother things, questions about love and sanity, and how sometimes thereis an unexpected interplay between the two. Hats off to Adria Cimino for a compelling read."

Throughout this story, I truly cared about Kat. I worried about her safety, her heart, her health. She's on a journey to heal not only her own damaged heart but two other hearts torn apart by tragedy. As Cimino weaves between the present and a dark mystery from the past, we hold our breath waiting for the answer.
The surrounding cast of characters is strong, complex, challenging.
Adria Cimino's prose is compelling. I highly recommend.
Upon arriving in London, Katherine passes by a store and is strangely drawn towards a black hat, which she is compelled to try on. She thinks she's the only customer in the store, but she hears a man's voice behind her telling her the hat suits her beautifully. When she goes to the register to pay for it, she is told that the gentleman who had just left, had already paid for it.
Katherine is staying at The Grand East Hotel, where she meets Destiny, a strange woman who takes her down a secret passage to a secret room in the hotel, where she introduces Katherine to a group of strange people in the midst of a party. Although everyone is dressed in their fancy clothes, no one seems to notice or to mind that Katherine is the only one barefooted and in her nightgown. Destiny insists that Katherine must meet Will, a handsome young man who upon meeting her, immediately takes her in his arms and kisses her. When Katherine wakes up the next morning, she's not sure if the night before was real or a dream. It must have been a dream, even though it seemed so real, right? But when she later runs into Destiny, Will, Zachary (the strange man who had anonymously bought her the hat), and some of the other people she saw at the party, she doesn't know if her mind is playing tricks on her.
Who are these people? Where is this secret fancy room where the parties are being held? She thinks she's found it, but when she goes inside, it's an empty room in the process of being remodeled. At times she thinks it all has to be real, but then she thinks she must have dreamt it all. Or is she actually going crazy?
Once I started reading this book, I wasn't able to put it down. The story is so engrossing, I couldn't stop reading until I finished it. It's a terrific story with several paranormal elements, including the theme of reincarnation. This book would make a fantastic movie.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I'm glad to be able to give it five stars.
Kat, a young woman who due to her depression fell into anorexia and even worse tried to kill herself a few times. But her life is about to take a total 180 degree change as she packs for London when her agent, Gewn Garnier calls her to come down and show her art work. Strangest of things happen while she's staying at the Grand East Hotel. In her first night there she gets a rather strange visit from a girl - let's face it, who on Earth has the guts to run around a hotel in the middle of the night, naked ? other than someone crazy ?!. This intrigues her a lot and so does her next visit, when the nameless girl takes Kat by the hand and leads her on the hotel's rooftop where there's a party. A rather strange one. From the point where she learns the girl's name everything turns into a crazy ride.
Figures, Destiny is not a total loon after all, but our main heroine does not believe a single word that she says. Up on the rooftop she is being introduced to Will who, from Destiny's sayings would be someone from Kat's previous life.
If you'd be given the chance to right the wrongs from your past life, what would do ? Accept it as it is and go forward or be careful, ask questions every step of the way, in an attempt to find out the truth ?!
Well, Kat chose the second option. The one where she'd ask lots of questions in order to find out if it's true or not. Every night, Destiny takes her to Gabriel's parties and each time she thinks she's going crazy. Only that...she is not. She still does not want to believe that Destiny is a medium that what she tells her is not a mumble jumble. She spends almost 5 months at the Grand East Hotel, time in which a lot of things happen. From her falling hard and fast for Will, to Destiny's death - cause by a terminal illness -, to Audrey's death. A death that still stay under the question mark.
A very beautiful story whatsoever, about two people who are brought together by a medium, who becomes Kat's friend in a rather short amount of time. This book reminds me a lot of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
